R9s vs. Styer 50 cal
« on: January 23, 2013, 11:29:32 AM »
Hello Men,

Hope everyone is well and had a great 2012, I have been stocking the Forum silently and want to thank you all for the great information and entertainment.

My son’s friend asked if I could mount a scope on his Styer HS 50 cal and of course I said yes but I’m going to have to shoot it some.  He agreed and off to the mountains we went.

My land does not afford a straight shot as it is all wooded but we were able to set up a 100 yard range along the gravel road.  Shooting a 50 at a target is just boring so we brought an old hot water heater with us.

2nd shot and my son hit the painted 5” circle around the bullseye in the center of the heater.  I had the best shot of the day, shot only once and hit one inch below the dot, lots of fun.

Needed to shoot the R9s and empty the old ammo, then shot a box of Hornady Critical Defense 115 through with no problems and good grouping, a little strange going from 50 to 9 but all fun.

Still making knives and on #24 now for my younger brother, Richard I did not forget that I promised you my first knife for sale, sometime soon maybe this year.

Hey Dino, glad you're still around!  Sounds like a fun day at the range.

24 knives, you must be getting better at your craft.  How about some more pics?

Welcome back, Dino! It looks like I had better be adding to my "self-defense appropriations account." (The old ivory scales are in my gun safe.  8) )

Thanks men, this knife attached is made from a billet from Alabama Damascus and Giraffe bone I bought at a local knife show.  Paul Bos did the heat treatment for me and Bob Schrap did the sheath to my specs. Light EDC for my nephew as part of his wedding present.

Dino:

That is a beautiful piece of work! Your nephew is one fortunate young man.

Extraordinary, Dino. I wouldn't have expected anything less from a BMW expert. Welcome back, and I hope that the pain of your family loss has eased somewhat with the passage of time.
