Title: SHOT Previews and Updates
Post by: DDGator on January 03, 2011, 04:50:20 PM
Hello all,

As I get new press releases and such for SHOT, I will be updating my Facebook page.  I will also post live updates from the Media Day and the show itself on that page.

To watch it, simply "Like" my fan page for "Duane A. Daiker."  Fan page sounds so egotistical -- but that is Facebook's term for it.

http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Duane-A-Daiker/190049081896

This page is where I keep people up to date on my gun writing, my take on new product announcements, and all stuff shooting related.  You won't be subjected to pictures of my Christmas vacation or my dog (much).

The Rohrbaugh specific information will also be posted on this forum -- as time and internet access permits.

Thanks!

Do you have to belong to facebook to read the updates?

I am not sure...?  I tried to make it public, so I don't think so.  You can always sign up with a fake name and you never have to post anything.

There are lots of great companies (including many, many gun related companies) on Facebook and it can be a great source of timely info --even if you don't choose to share.

I tried getting on FaceBook once to veiw someones pics whom invited me.
The only way I could get in was to basically join, by giving my e-mail and such.
I blew it off.
I'm behind the times, I don't do social networking.

I tried to join for an ammo giveaway and ended up giving up, it was more hassle than the free ammo was worth to me. ::)

Sorry, guys.  It just so happens that Facebook is a great utility for "real time" updates.  I can easily take and post photos on my Blackberry and upload them over the 3G network while walking around the show.

I thought I was one of the last converts to Facebook.  I was a very late adopter.  But, now I have found a colony of non-conformists.   ;D

Facebook gets a bad rap.  I was skeptical, but now I believe.  The truth is, you can share as much or as little as you want.  It can be an intrusive as you want it to be.  Its all very customizable.

If you can't figure you Facebook, I will be glad to pound out the update on papyrus or send smoke signals!   ;D

I've become a "fan" to get the updates.  Look forward to seeing what you have to post up.

Definitely agreed that it is easier to add pics on the fly to a utility like Facebook as opposed to a forum like this.

Starting to post up some of the updates I am getting on new product teases and such.

S&W is promising a new "defensive pistol" and some new M&P revolvers.  Walther will have three new semi-autos.

I am thinking I may put together a video report from the show too -- to try and convey the whole SHOT experience.

I have a Droid 2 and with a photobucket app I can take pictures with the phone (5mp) and they are sent straight to my photobucket account.  I thought that was really neat.  Phones can do tons of cool stuff now days.

How about an i-Touch, can you upload to photobucket, or whatever?
I know that the i-Touch requires WiFi. The Droid has cell connection.

Yes you can upload them manually.  I would think there is an app for it that would automatically do it also.

I too have not done the Facebook thing, and will not allow my kids to even think about it..

Been asked to join many times, understand the coolness and the info possibilities.

I have too much info "out there" now as it is!! ;D

I may join at some time, but just can't bring myself to do so at this time..

Duane, have fun at Shot, and a smoke signal once in awhile would be appreciated!! ;)

How did you confirm the email when the sent it to his email address?  Sounds like a plan.

I just confirmed the e-mail and it worked, as long as it is a valid address. Maybe he received some face book inquiries, but I'll never tell. No wonder they have 500 million subscribers.

I think it is fraudulent to use someone else's email.  Really!  You absolutely cannot open anyone else's email.  That is.... not good.  Be careful.

This is the internet!!!

When the "net" Police knock on the door, that's when I'd worry about that!! ;)

Well, you better start worrying because it is definitely a problem.  Go to Snopes.com and ask that question.  People are being sued right now for using someone else's email.

Oh!  And it's not the "Net" police that's going to be knocking on your door!

Sorry my friend, not too worried when I haven't done anything wrong!! ;D

I have more serious things to be "worried" about in this life..

Hey,it's the internet,please don't take it so serious!! ;)

And if your talking about that husband looking at his wifes mail on a shared computer,I think that the lawyers will sort that out..

BTW,Snopes is not the the be-all end-all that it's claimed to be..

SHOT 2011 Day 6 report from GunsAmerica (and note the update on the Taurus 28-guage):

[size=10]We have done a video with the folks at TDI/KRISS for several years now and the gun is always as cool as when it started. If you are not familiar with the KRISS sub-machinegun, it is a new concept in recoil management in a .45ACP subgun. the mechanism directs the force of the fired shell down, not backwards, so the recoil is comparatively light. This aids in controlling the gun in burst and full auto fire. There is also a semi-auto version of the gun for civilian use, and it will benefit from a new era in the KRISS design. They are finally updating it with rails and handguards and a comfortable collapsible stock. This is going to be the year for KRISS, and you saw it first here on GunsAmerica.

PLEASE NOTE: The SHOT T-shirt orders are going to be shut off tomorrow night, so if you have not ordered your shirt and want one you should do it now. We did have some outages of the order site and the pre-sale price has been continued. The order site is http://shot2011.gunsamerica.com/.
