New From Ga.
« on: January 27, 2010, 11:36:57 AM »
Hello from Cumming Ga. I am new to the Rohrbaugh. I purchased a what I think to be R9S with sights I think. What I am being told. I purchase this little unit unfired used. But not sure if it is indeed a R9 or R9S.
Thanks for your help.

Congratulations on your purchase. Fine looking R9S!!! The R9 has no sights. The R9S, has sights. Here is a link to the factory page with a short explanation of the same:   click here.  Most of the Rohrbaughs have sights.

fastgun:

Welcome to the Forum, and congratulations on the R9s.

The Colt Mustang was my "24/7 piece" back in the day -- after the Walther PPK and before the NAA Guardian. Although mine is now a "safe queen," it is still one of my favorite handguns.

For some reason, the Mustang has always been a very accurate design for me. I remember one time back in the 80's a friend of mine purchased a Mustang on my recommendation and then came to me complaining that he couldn't hit a *&^% thing with it. We took the pistol out to the range he had consturcted behind his barn where he proceeded to prove his point at 25 yards. I examined the pistol, found nothing amiss, inserted a fresh magazine, and then managed to hit the "10 ring" on the first shot. Knowing to quit while I was ahead, I engaged the safety, handed the Mustang back to its owner, and said, "You may just need to practice a little more."

(I love moments like that.    ;D )

When I first saw the box, I thought the same thing.  Colt wheel gun.

Apart from my reminiscence on the Colt Mustang, what really lurks in that box is a real "enigma" to me. [Pun intended, Enigma.   ;) ] As I understand it, circa 1928, which year is visible on the box along with the word, "Canadian," the Canadian Royal Mounted Police were issued the Colt New Service Revolver. But what is visible of the piece on the box does not look to me like this CNSR:

I'm stumped.

Enigma:

Bring booze -- preferably a single malt of some kind. I forgot to stock up before the big snow hit last night and my supply is perilously low. I may soon have to turn to that organic Chardonnay stuff I keep in the wine rack for "Herself."   8)

Richard, when stocking up on single malt, try a bottle of Bushmills 21 year old single malt. It's so good that it comes in a dove tailed wood box. Herself might even want to try some, which she can trade for... ;) ;D    Tom
