Outside My Windows II - A Feel Good Gathering
« on: February 09, 2006, 10:52:05 PM »
"Outside My Windows - A Magical Morning"  was a thread I started were friends could gather.  The idea was a thread were people could post and talk about things that made them feel good.

The posters were encouraged to drift the thread anywhere they pleased.

I had never imagined the original "Outside My Windows" thread would go to 18 pages with 267 replies and 3338 views.

The thread was ended because it was too large for members that did not have a high speed connection.  If you are a new member please feel free to dig it up and browse some great "feel good posts".

So as the starter of the first "Outside My Windows" thread I would like to say;

LET "OUTSIDE MY WINDOWS II - A FEEL GOOD GATHERING" BEGIN.

AND MAY IT DRIFT FAR AND WIDE AND BE HIGHJACKED MANY TIMES.

That was a good idea.  We get to retain the wonderful things brought forth in this thread, all beginning with Dave's super pictures.

I'm at my cabin up north, on the dialup, so I especially appreciate starting again.

Well done Dave and thx - I do think this'll help for a while - until we get another 18 pages of pics and stuff! ;D

Trying to think of a pic I can put in to get us going - hmmm -

Know what guys, I am gonna post what I consider to be one of the all time most evocative images IMO - ''Reflections''.  It affects me deeply every time I see it, and I need few excuses to help us remember and honor the guys who defend our nation - those present, past and passed too.

I salute them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just to add - maybe where possible, compress our pics down too - to try and keep them smaller - like 50k - 100k max - that would also help the slower folks.
Chris,
That picture always meant a lot to me.  Many times I have just stood and looked at it.  It was a time that was tragic and very special.  Since people rotated out one at a time there never was a special leaving and returning as there is now with a whole company going, staying, and returning home together.  In a way it was a very lonely war.
Dave:
Thanks for reprising "the grand old thread."
And Chris:
Thanks for posting that haunting photograph.  I had not seen it for a long time.  "Lest we forget . . . ."
I'm off on the road for a few days -- unfortunately not to the Shot Show.  Keep the Forum going.   ;)
I'm trying to find a photo object, but the wild animals are not out now.
The WALL, wow, how soon we forget all the pain. It however, just shows us all that our military are very special people who fight for our freedom. We owe them alot, the wall helps us all remember how important they are in our lives as a country.
Thanks Dave, for continuing this thread, my favorite.
A Few Unusual Man Made things I've Seen This Year
Thinnest building in North America - Canada
One of the worlds few working steam clocks - Canada
(if you have a verizon cell that plays videos I can send you a flix with sound of the clock in action - PM me)
Wow - a steam clock - never knew there was one still working!  So I guess some poor sucker has to go check the fuel every day ;D
Ahhh yes that building - is that not the ''Flat Iron'' Building?  Or is there one similar in NYC or somewhere else?
Thx for the pix Dave.
Both pictures were taked in Vancouver Chris.  I'll send you an email with the cell phone video of the steam clock in action with sound attached.  Don't know for sure the attachment will work.
Thx Dave - Do you have my real email?
If so it should attach OK - is it AVI or MOV - either should work - or any other accepted file type really.
Chris - let me know if you get it and if it works for you.  For some reason those cell videos work better on my work computer than the home one.
