On another note I noticed a comment by Mountain Man that I had overlooked.

Mountain Man quote:
First Roc - [glb]nice gator - reminds me of an old girlfriend.[/glb]

Care to elaborate on that?  :)

Roc
She is a lesbian now - in fact two old girlfriends are.  Some say I drove them away from men.  I say if they couldn't have me no other men would do.  A long story from long ago.  ::)

That is a good shoot shoot it game.

I had rather go hunting with Dick than to take a midnight
ride with Ted Kennedy.

Now that is an attitude I will endeavor to emulate.  I do not doubt that for a second.  Besides that gator reminds me of one of mine too, at least the disposition. . . all teeth and no personality.  What the hell was I thinking? ::) ::)

Guys - slight deviation - well anything fits in here right! ;)

Found an old bit of vid so dropped it into puter and edited - just a wee little clip of the BFR in action!!  One of my ''boomsticks'' LOL!

First shot was a buddy having a try - he is not quite new to shooting but you may notice his recoil has a bit more ''shock'' effect - he doesn't let the gun ''flow'' with its recoil.

I am the opposite and let the gun climb freely, even exaggerating it might appear, but that way much more comfortable I find.  45-70 rocks!

Just right click and save file.  Only 1.2Mb

BFR in action  :) :)

Discovered this morning that two hawks had just built a nest "outside my windows".  The nest is way up in a tree about 70 yards back from the house. I used a zoom setting and some cropping to get the attached pictures - maybe in the future I'll be able to get some better ones.

The pictures were taken from inside the house on a very dreary cloudy day.  As long as they leave my dog alone the hawks will be welcomed.
(left pictures a little larger so they can be seen better)

I started the first "Outside My Windows" thread to share some pictures of the outdoors and wildlife that were taken one "magical morning" from inside the house.

It you are new the start of those pictures on this thread of sharing can be viewed at the below link.  You are encouraged to contribute.  This thread is built on forum friends sharing whatever they wish.

Dave - considering lighting conditions you did very well - never easy when overcast and contrast low.  I think if your new neighbors stay put you'll be having some more great pics to come hopefully.

Very handsome birds.  They must feel spring is near :)

Those hawks are awesome!  Red tailed maybe?  Keep an eye and hopefully you can get some fledgeling photos in the weeks to come.
Speaking of birds of prey, we had a Peregrine Falcon, I think from my wife's description since I was at work at the time, dive bomb the screen room trying to get at the canaries and finches my wife keeps.  She said it bouces off flew around and tried again.  After that she let the dogs out and they kept it from trying a third time.  No damage to the screen that I could see, but I guess if they can survive Wilma a diving bird of prey is no match.  Crazy stuff though.

That BFR vid of your friend looks like me when I shot the .454 for the first time the other week.  I guess it takes practice to make it smooth.

When in high school a friend and I raised and trained 2 red tail hawks to hunt for us. After that we then moved on to catch 2 young peregrine falcons and trained them to hunt. Went to S Dakota on a peasant hunt and used my falcon instead of a shotgun. Now those were the days.
