The Ruger 22/45 - Plastic junk with a worthless warranty
« on: September 28, 2013, 08:26:23 PM »
$350 new and $75 as a trade in

The gun is 4 yrs old, sets a record for jamming, and holds no resale value. Then I call Ruger up and am told "No warranty, $50 to ship, $35 for them to 'Look at' , and $50 to ship back. The customer service rep said "Try different ammo".

Well if anyone wants to trade me some Gray Squirrel pelts, I am open to offers.

Wow!

Very surprising for a Ruger. They are known for reliability, not being purdy

22/45 Hunter model here.  Received the pistol as a birthday gift from my wife a few years ago.  Had/have many of the same issues you mention and it totally turned me off Mark III Rugers forever.  Can't trade/sell it since it's a gift from the wife.  I use it as a parts pistol.  I'll only buy used or NOS Mark IIs after my experience.

Anyone interested in a Ruger 22/45, plus $100, for their R9?

I have the Ruger Standard - sometimes called the Mk I, made in 1963 or 1964 (can't remember now) and it really runs like a champ.

It's like Ruger found a way to make their .22 pistols less reliable over time.

And with the ammo shortage I am paying $18 for a hundred 22s  ... I was paying $21 for a hundred 9mm

Oh G_d, does my suffering ever end
