Hey everyone,
As I mentioned a few days ago, I was going to sell off a few things. This is a special R9S for you collectors out there! It Is The First Rohrbaugh R9 Pistol sold to the public! If you click on the link, it will take you to my posting on Gunbroker with the write up about this firearm which has the undisputed distinction of being that firearm. If you look at the photograph of the action below, yes, that is the original grease we used then is still on this R9. I test fired it in May 2004 and the owner just put it in his safe. Never used. . . . New In Box! (but no box now, but you get what I mean. lol)

I have seen and handled this gun. This is absolutely the real deal. Hard to think of a Rohrbaugh that would be more collectible than this one. Just wow.

Great write-up Eric. Any thoughts on an Archive service where you do a mini history on company letterhead on any given pup? If the price was right I would pay to have the same style history on several of mine. Phil

While I do have some sort of "handle" on the R9 pistols I built, to be able to put something directly on a certain serial number may be difficult, but, depending on the number, it may just jog my memory and we might have something viable. It would depend on the number and what I can remember about it. You are welcome to send me any particulars in reference to the firearm you have Phil, and I'll see what I can do for you.

I did have them corrected prior to posting them, but after they got posted, they went back to the original shot and not the "fixed angle" I changed them to. I was unsuccessful in going back in and changing those. Oh well, I tried my best and failed miserably.

An obvious one is #223. Another is the LISC serial number. Maybe two more.

Thanks again guys. I just hope it goes to a collector who understands what the heck it is I'm letting go here. So far I'm a bit let down by these numbers, but I guess the real bidding now will be near the closing of the auction. We'll see. . . . . . . and I'll hope. lol

With the documentation going along with this firearm, there is no doubt that this is really one for the collectors and not the shooters who enjoy the Rohrbaugh R9 series pistols. We will see this evening around 8:15 I guess where she ends up. Whoever it is that gets this will certainly have something special for a "barbecue gun" for sure. Thank you all who have bid on her thus far. I can see this particular R9 holding it's value for sometime to come if not appreciate in value over the years kept in as is condition here.

Well, it just went into the 15 minute rule, so lets see if any 15 minute extensions occur or if it sells where it stands. Gunbroker doesn't work like eBay so if you bid in the last few seconds it will tack on another 15 minutes so that everyone gets a fair chance. The auction will only end when no bids occur in the last 15 minutes.

Gunbroker has a 15 minute rule, so anyone placing a bid within the last 15 minutes of the auction increases the time left to 15 minutes. These last-minute bids might make this auction last all evening.

just a rohrbaugh nut. Been following closely all the auctions and sites for sales on the fantastic little guns. Could of been a wild card bidder with TONS of cash but being such a rare piece was kind of a lucky guess. 😉

Cgs Eric on such a special piece of rohrbaugh history. Not sure if you are happy with the end result. But it was fun to watch. Ps I wonder what rare pup will be up next? Would love to see what a coyote would end up auctioning for.

i can see some other guns like elites and rarer guns selling in that price range. But this gun and very special guns gaining steam. First and last production guns shall be on the move. Would love to see the last off production line go on the block. 👍🏻

Ha haa..... well, he's not a deadbeat and the funds are being overnighted. This special R9 will be leaving tomorrow afternoon. By the way, this fellow has 20 R9's in his safe. He just loves them.

I guess you guys forgot about "The Last Rohrbaugh". The last gun that I assembled at the shop..... I own it. It is like a jewel with some very special parts on it that were prototypes to us for different finishes. I don't think I'm going to let that one go, not right now anyway. It is a gorgeous looking R9. Look back in the stories of the R9 for this gun listed above. I believe I have some photographs there of it. Serial number: R6336

Eric: I'm confused. How can #6336 be the last one made...I own #6410 & # 6443?

Many times Norm, we would send frames out for special treating and the regular frames would still be made and go out the door. The question was, what was the list gun MADE. The last R9 made was R6336. That is because that frame was sent out to a vendor for a special coating treatment which I kept to the side for a while. Once we were selling the company to Remington, I needed a gun for myself, so I made it out of the remaining frames and parts that I had at the shop, so R6336 is truly "The Last Rohrbaugh" made. Those high number guns that you have are truly some of the last sequential number frames to go out the door.

Unfortunately no…… All of that information went to Remington and I kick myself in the tail for not printing out some copies of that stuff so I could have that information available for us here. There is one shot I may have…… I just found one of my old computers and I'm firing it up in the next few days to see if any of that information may still be on it. If it is, that will give us some better history of what number frame was manufactured on what date. Let's hope it's in this computer!

One interesting thing about 102 is the hyphen in the "R9-s" on the slide. Something that even 101 does not have or any of the other pre-R serialized guns for that matter. I thought about throwing my hat in the ring but $5k is a lot of money to pay for a hyphen :)

R1006 also has a Farmingdale slide and is a R9s. So you are not alone 8)
