  • When you need to throw more than stones.
I am offering up a unique set of Rohrbaugh pistols. These two pistols were the personal pistols of Karl and Eric Rohrbaugh. They are Robar/Rohrbaugh R9 Pistols and they are historically significant to the Rohrbaugh company.

The very first Robar/Rohrbaugh R9 Pistol, R3000, was given away in the March/April 2009 issue of American Handgunner Magazine.  Karl Rohrbaugh owned R3001, which was on the cover of the company catalog. and Eric C. Rohrbaugh owned and carried, R3002, as his personal gun.

I own both R3001 and R3002. I have had both pistols in my collection for several years now.

I am going to be selling the pair. If you are interested in purchasing them please send me a PM. I will privately share more information with you.

Now for sale on Gunbroker.

There ya go.  The story checks out.   ;)

I'd love to hear the story of how AmmonsArms acquired these two guns.

I remember when these were for sale. If you called the factory and asked about purchasing collectible R9s they were offered.

Acquiring Karl and Eric's personal pistols was not as easy as calling the factory and placing an order.
Here is how it happened:
Several years ago Duane posted that Eric's Robar/Rohrbaugh R3002 was available. I contacted Duane who put me in touch directly with Eric. After acquiring Eric's Robar/Rohrbaugh R9 pistol I sent him a thank you and noted that if Karl's Robar/Rohrbaugh R3001 ever became available I would be interested in acquiring it.

Edit -
When Eric talked to Karl about the R3001 pistol, he was given information that allowed him to track it down. I believe it was a retirement gift for a woman who had been a significant, and long standing, part of the Rohrbaugh Company. Eric contacted that person and coordinated my purchase. I never had any interaction with her. I bought it from her husband.

I am proud to have been able to unite these special pistols. They belong together as part of Rohrbaugh history.

Cool history and nice job making the set. James must have purchased R3001 from the factory. I still have the email from Maria when it was offered to me if you want it for your records. And as you said R3002 was sold via the forum.

Good luck with your sale.

There was a discussion before about whether sequential pairs are more valuable or harder to sell because the price point is double.  I think in this case the pair is more valuable because you have the two guns from the two Rohrbaughs, but the double price point will make it a little trickier to sell also.
