Walther's PPQ
« on: January 17, 2011, 10:40:47 PM »

Walther's PPQ is a full-size duty pistol offered in 9mm and .40 S&W.

Walther America brought a new full-size duty pistol to SHOT Show 2011 that was unveiled Monday at an invitation-only event at a local firearms dealer.

The PPQ arrives in 9mm and .40 S&W calibers with 7.1-inch and 7.2-inch barrels respectively. Representatives from Smith & Wesson (Walther's parent corporation) touted the pistol's "quick defense trigger," which provides an audible click reset, 5.5-pound pull, and 0.1-inch reset.

The pistol is based on the same sidearm carried by German police, Wulf Pflaumer, Walther's president, told The Oklahoman.

The grip features cross-directional texturing and interchangeable backstraps for small, medium and large hands. An ambidextrous magazine release is integrated into the trigger guard, and the slide includes front and rear serrations.

After the Glock, a lot of these guns are starting to look the same.

The odd, Walther-style mag release kills this one for me.  It shot nice, but not sure what makes it better than what is out there.
