Title: Star BM 9mm for $229
Post by: kevinqjhps on September 30, 2017, 01:30:03 PM
J&G sales has police turn in 9mm Star BM's, a 8+1 model, for $229. That model is a Colt Commander size 1911 style pistol with external extractor. I think I can squeeze one into the safe. ;D

It looks like a CZ clone

Looks like a typical 1911 style handgun.  Don't know what CZ it resembles though. (Unless you are talking about Dan Wesson 1911s.)

Maybe so with some CZ attributes thrown in. Maybe im only seeing the angled pictures. I think the Star Model B is more 1911 like.

So, members, what's the 'Verdict?'  For $229 do I just break it in, to find ammo it likes, and just live with it OR MAYBE Cerekote it, dovetail the front, to put in a night sight. and a Novak rear.

For the price of the gun it gives me room to play without yelling " UNCLE."    ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Thanks,
Kevin

Just picked it up, I also got the "hand select" option, another $20. It looks like a 98-99% condition firearm. It is ALMOST perfect, well actually for $249 total it IS.  ;) ;) ;) Came with matching number box,and original Spanish owners manual. They're smart enough to use LOTS of pictures so even without going to You Tube you can work your way through it.

Doctor, AGAIN :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ tomorrow, but Friday its off to 'road test it'

Just got a e-mail from Classic Firearms. They also cary the Star BM, but prices start  at $249 but they give you a choice of box colors

For 50 rounds it was 100% reliable, should have brought more, and at 31+ ounces was VERY soft shooting.  I ordered two more mage, that will give me 4, from 3K Magazines. For $229 it is the best mid size 9mm you could find. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Kevin, back in the late 70's a friend had a chrome model Star BM in 9mm.  It was his edc for as long as I knew him.  Nice and slim and never a malfunction.

For what is worth I ordered a second only yesterday. For the price they are a GREAT buy.

p.s. this is the model, only nickel plated, that Samuel Jackson used in Pulp Fiction.

Picked my second up Wednesday and took both to the range. In about 100 rounds they were FLAWLESS. Best $229 I have spent since Okinawa. ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Just got off the phone with J&G and ordered another. At $229 it can NEVER go down in value, it as reliable as anything out there PLUS if worst happens and we get stuck with the 'less than round' crap going around now you are all set with 9+1.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Salesman at J&G said I was the third one today he has spoken to who was ordering his second or third Star.

Just ordered my FOURTH, Yes. After 35-40 mags I am REALLY impressed with the Star BM. Actually my sister wanted one of mine, also a brother in law wants one. As always go with the hand select, for collector reasons. As a shooter go cheap.

Classic Arms has replacement mags for these for about $15.
