It looks to be south of you.

What is Houston supposed to be like?

Wet; because it will hang around for a few days like Allison. Houston is on the "dirty" side of this one.

Good luck, I certainly don't envy you.

later

I have not checked out the weather channel yet but on the local weather they were showing how the storm will stall and maybe even move Northeast toward Houston.

WOW!  30" in some places is not out of the question.

Going to be a wet few days.

Spent yesterday at herselfs house getting stuff ready and picked up and out of the path of her creek (less than 100 yards from the bay).  Tattoo is in line for this also, he and I are probably less than a dozen miles from each other for this.

I will post some pictures if it gets real interesting as the weekend progresses.

My prayers and those from our site here go to you all in the path of this devastating storm.

Stay safe out there and please keep us all posted here on any developments.

Thanks tattoo, we safe and dry here as well.  Glad you getting some rest with your family.  Once I got herself bunkered in, I rolled up north to help family deal with this.

Interesting thing, this is the first local hurricane/tropical storm that I have been able to witness from detached observer perspective.  Been through a number of these things first hand, but never had power to watch what was unfolding around us on TV.  (Lost power during Ike before the rain started, usually when the wind gets up.) Haven't lost electricity at either place yet, so been able to watch the news and see the disaster happening.  Normally it is just what you can see venturing outside, and what I hear from friends and family.

More to come. :(

That's good news for Houston.

 How did your neighborhood fare?

We were very fortunate in Southampton which is near Rice University. This area is 24' above msl and we have excellent drainage. Luckily, we didn't lose power and there was very little, if any, flooding into homes. I didn't have any water damage.

I'm used to seeing hurricane damage here in Florida & in New England. Nothing I've ever seen compares to the devastation that is happening now in Texas & the after effects which will be even more devastating. It is a sad sad sight.
