Any interest in a Recoil Assembly Compression tool?
« on: July 17, 2017, 02:08:26 PM »
I  am having my machinist make 6 of the recoil spring compressing tools for my collection. It will be 2-3 weeks before he can get started so I thought I would see if anyone on here was interested. I bought mine from a member for $30, it is brass and worth it's weight in GOLD putting your Rohrbaugh together, you can put one together in less than 30 seconds.

I can't give a price yet, he charges time and materials, but am thinking with the cost of brass aluminum may be the way to go. He is GUESSING $20-$30 range.

If you have a interest let me know here or send a P.M.

update:  He dropped the price to $25.00 each

I'd be in for one, as long as it works as intended.

The question was asked how this works. It is about 3 inched long with a cutout on one end that fits in front of the recoil spring  cap. No wrestling with channel locks . Just put tension on recopy spring, slide this over in front of the recoil cap. and it's in in 3-4 seconds. Whoever invented this was a genius who got tired fighting with assembly.

i will be selling these at cost BUT i NEED A ACCURATE NUMBER OF realistic BUYERS. I havre to pay for these when I pick them up , $200-$300 range, so I would like to be accurate. Those who have contacted me, or responded here WILL GET FIRST SHOT. If I end uo with a few left over they will go on G-broker at a higher, NOT MEMBER price.

If anyone has one feel free to kick your 2 cents in on how you like it, or if you want a pic of the old brass one, gunsmith has it now, I will get you a cell phone pic. Just send your cell number.

Thanks,

Just a thought...I believe that the tool you bought from me came from Brian @ Designer grips. He probably is still selling them & has some existing inventory. Might be a lot easier using him & he could use the business. JMO

The inventor of this tool was RJ Hedley, who also was a superb holster maker, especially for the R9. Unfortunately, RJ passed away several years ago and his daughter, Lisa, is also a fantastic holster maker who has followed in her father's large footsteps with grace and skill.

Does the RACTool & the DRT tool do the same thing? I thought they were. I have never used either. If not, my mechanical ability is scary sometimes.
