Failure to feed and eject with R9s
« on: November 27, 2009, 12:14:15 PM »
I used UMC remington FMJ and I get failure to feed.
I used Federal FMJ and get failure to eject on the last round with the casing stuck in the slide without ejecting.  Anyone has the same results with FMJ?

No, but not surprising.  UMC Remington is not a recommended ammo for the R9.

I wouldn't recommend Remington ammo for anything. I have had problems almost every time I've tried using them, none of my other .380s liked them. I've never tried to feed them to either one of my pups (and never will). In my opinion they are just a waste of time and money.   Gene

The UMC Remington FMJ functions perfectly in the Glock 33, .357 sig., however, the Glock devours most anything.

Just got back from the range where I tried to fire Lellier & Bellot 9mm 115 gr. FMC.  In 22 rounds I got 6 failed to fire.  I gave the remaining 25 rounds away.  The Gunsmith at the range, identified these as hard primer rounds and my experience bears this out.  I should have read the forum before I bought the ammunition.

I have put approximately 50 rounds of Magtech 9mm 115gr. through my R9 with good results.  I have seen several recommendations for carry ammunition.  Are there recommendations for a target round?

Winchester "White Box" FMJ is my target round for the R9.

Ditto what Richard said, WWB works fine for me.

My R9s just hates the current Winchester White box 115gr ammunition.  20% FTE rate.  I have 250 rounds if some one is interested.  :-/

Steve,
I think that I would continue to use the Magtech if that works for you but I would be more concerned about the carry round; have you tried Gold Dot? Also, the 147 gr. might work for you as ACP suggests. Other than that you might want to contact the factory if these random problems persist.

Speer Gold Dots 124 and 147 work in my R9s without any issues and they are my choice for personal protection.  I was experimenting with the Winchester White Box 115 for an inexpensive target round.  Bad idea.  I'll stay with the Magtech for my range ammunition.

Alphonso, send me a personal message with your contact information and you can have the WWB Rounds for the cost of shipping.

My Glock (.40 model 22) eats WWB like candy. ;D
