Friends, today I acquired one of the subject ponies. Having only owned 10 or so 1911's in my life, I know little about them. An attorney friend of mine had a client who needed money today. Story is that a gunsmith worked it over, and it wasn't fired after that. Appearance seems to match the story. It came with an Ed Brown "Hardcore Extractor" bag with the original extractor in it. A small diameter long spring, one each Colt, Chip McCormack, and Kimber mags, wood grips (installed) and the originals, the original back strap (metal one installed), a metal lock box as well as the original Colt blue plastic box, and a new box of Winchester Black Talon 230gr STX. I believe the trigger is lightened, and there appears to have been at least some smoothing of the action (slide, etc) and feed ramp. That's all I know, would like some thoughts, or what to think/look for. I feel I got a great buy on it, but really haven't kept up with the 1911 world. Serial number is CU175XX..... Thoughts please, and thanks! Also, on the back of the slide, there is a steel shroud around the firing pin with a "1" stamped into it....anyone know what that means? Thanks again....
