Chris,

The Bersa appears to be an excellent choice for someone just getting started.

I absolutely did not need one, but everywhere I turned, some writer was saying it was an undiscovered best buy, etc.

Pretty soon, there was a hole burning in my pocket, whereupon a purchase had to be made without delay.

Bill - one thing I do consider re the Bersa - while it is I think superb value I tend to treat it as a carry gun rather than massive thruput for plinking.  Bit like the pup in some ways - carry a lot etc.

It will take lots of use happily but so as not to prejudice it for carry I keep shooting to specific practice drills for wife and our friend - thus maybe a session is only 6 to 8 mag's each (approx 50 rounds), well for now.

That's just a wonderful picture!  You are a very talented, well rounded man, and I am full of envy.

I still remember the excellent sequence where you revealed how the European magazine catch is manipulated.

Well, I think the only Bersa flaw could be that an accidental magazine disconnect renders the gun safe.

On a couple of occasions, I must have held it poorly, and the magazine came out every so slightly.  It would not fire.

Since we think in terms of emergency use for self protection, I think a pistol should always fire, even if the magazine is removed.

The mag disconnect is easily removed Bill - but not recommended, at least in as much as it ''alters'' the gun legallty speaking.

I do not like disconnects but have put great emphasis with ''my girls'' on very positive mag insertion.  In fact when loading up - if mag smacked in hard from slide lock it very nicely (as with Glocks) lets slide-lock lever release and slide slam heartily fwd.!

So try and accept that feature and go for practice to achieve a good ''click'' as it enters - plus visual confirmation.

Thx for your kind comments.  That reminds me to check if those pics I did of heel mag release are on FAQ site - darned if I remember.

Good idea about the magazine insertion.  I was giving it a light push.

Next time, it will be a hearty slap.

Great comparisons...

I have a couple of "small" pocket guns that I should take pics with the pups..

But my picture taking is not in the same league!! ;)

Wheres all the Pocket Nines? Great pics, I too sold my PPK/S after the R9S'es. :D
Pocket Nine as in Colt Pocket Nine? Here's the Rohrbaugh R9S next to a Colt Pocket Nine ...

... Sorry about the blurriness but for some reason, I just couldn't get a clear shot. I guess my lighting must have been off. And here are some Colt Pocket Nines by themselves ...

Alan - more nice pics :)

You may have missed my earlier post - but let me ask again - do you mind if I use these to add to the FAQ site collection of comparison pics - they are nice material.

Saw that. Thought that I responded but apparently I didn't. Been trying to shake the flu for the past couple of weeks and the worse part was the high fevers that would hit me.

Anyway, to answer your question, feel free to use anything that I post.

Thx Alan - always like to ask!

Nasty dose of flu by sound of it - hate that high fever deal.  Hope you are soon rid.
