Have always envied a couple of friends who own this great little piece of metal art and fine little tool.

Gun shows are a passion and I love the flea market/swap meet nature, never knowing what I'll find.

Sunday 2 days ago was my dream day.

An old long-time friend who always sets up a table and never has the same stuff twice was there and had a pristine little R9 he said has been gathering dust and taking safe space.
Looks as-new in the factory black box with two mags, no papers though. He claimed the original owner fired 4 rounds from each mag and stored it until it's sale 5 years ago.

If serials started at 101 (I read here) it's in the first 100 guns made with serial R19X.
Pristine.
Bluish black fiber grips.
Dull gray/brown/green-ish frame.
Farmingdale N.Y. on the left.

Plan to shoot it this weekend.
I pulled a couple 9mm bullets and the striker soundly dented and fired the primers.
Great little piece I have here!!!

The BEST part.
I got it for a steal.
A random guy was walking the show with a nice Winchester 1892 in 32-20 that I knew was a very good price.
I bought it, as my 3rd 1892 and first 32-20.
My buddy with the Rohrbaugh was asking $750 for the R9.
He saw and loved my Winchester that I'd owned for less than 15 minutes that I got a great deal on.

Bottom line...he had to have the Winchester and offered me $500 more for the Winchester than I'd paid a few minutes prior. So...750-500=$250
So, I'm out a net grand total $250 for my lovely little first-100-made R9.

I absolutely love the swap-meet gun shows!!

Welcome me to the forum vernix and congrats on what sounds to be the deal of the century.

Things are a bit slow of late here, but there are some really good fellas on board.

You should post pics. Sounds like a real beaut.

Oh, for what it's worth I'd be happy to buy your old junky gun for uhhhhh, say... I'll go ahead and make it $750 to be nice. Hahahaha.

Vernix, you flat stole that piece.  Your original grips may be worth more than you ended up paying!  Welcome to the forum and congrats on owning the single best carry piece ever made.  It is ammo sensitive so peruse the forum for advise.  Keep it clean, let it cool when at the range between magazines...shoot little, carry a lot.

It's a kind of deal that I always hear about and never happens for me!
Ya,sounds like one of the early Farmies but depending on if it has the R prefix,is the early grey anodized.
A search here will show a list of the makes/approx serial #s. Nothing is ever cut and dried time wise with Rohrbaugh as they did not ship guns in order.

I do love my new acquisition, and yes, it was a steal.
Pristine gun from first 100 made is a dream!
Yep, blue grips, R-prefix!

First, something about me.
"Shoot little" isn't in my nature.

I shot it about 50 times Sunday 2 days ago with about 6 types of ammo.
Had a single stovepipe after the 3rd of 5 rounds. Ejected the empty and left the 2 live rounds pointing up.
Was with some 1980's Spanish battlepack truncated cone solid point stuff that's always been fine.
Oh, well.

I should buy extras so is gunsprings.com from Wolf the best bet??
Probably should browse the forum before asking that, as the answer is undoubtedly here.

Will be in the market for a low-signature pack pocket holster, likely should search for that too.

I love taking the thing apart to clean.
Elegant simplicity!!!

It's displaced my lovely (and bigger more complicated) Sig 938 9mm as my favorite tiny full power gun!

My Sig P938 feeling are thus:
