Gearing up for R9S arrival
« on: July 08, 2004, 01:03:01 AM »
The gun is on order. I've got my 1/16" brass punch on backorder at brownells.  I wonder if I'll get the punch first or the gun.
Also ordered a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster.  Desantis has a Rohrbaugh R9 model listed.  I figured it would be easier on the grey frame finish plus it's cheaper than leather and it's ambidextrous.  My dad has one for a 340PD that works pretty decently.
I haven't decided whether to get a 3rd mag and some spare recoil springs.  I don't want to get too ahead of myself.

****************Update*************************
Finally got a tracking number from Impact Guns that it shipped today 7/13/04. Est. Delivery Date: 7/20/04 Ground shipping, DHL Global.  I guess I'll be getting the brass punch first lol.
****************Update**************************
I don't know why the estimated delivery date was so off but I got a message from the gun shop that the R'blublublu, don't even know what he said, arrived today 7/15/04.

Justin:

Welcome to the Forum.

I would advise getting two spare magazines, for a total of four.  That assumes you will be carrying a spare mag with the Rohrbaugh.  If so, also order a magazine case.  And then, I would recommend that you plan to change your magazines according to a certain schedule.  Some recommend switching them out when you change your clocks -- i.e. twice a year.  I tend to be obsessive/compulsive on the subject.  Back in my Army days, I was told by an old armorer to give magazines a 30-day duty schedule.  I still do that, even though metalurgy and spring technology are far advanced today from what they were back in the 1960s.

Good luck with your "pocket rocket."  This little pistol is a masterpiece of design and function.

Justin,

Try the Nemesis since you already ordered it, but try a leather holster sometime.  Most front pocket type holsters are ambidextrous.  As far as cheaper goes -- that shouldn't be your main criteria.  You just bought a $900 gun, a $40 holster shouldn't be out of the question.

There is a wealth of leather holster-making talent on this board -- you shoud give them a shot (pardon the pun).

I agree.  Without a proper holster, the efficacy of the weapon (no matter how expensive) is compromised.

Just ordered a Hedley front pocket holster and mag case and am looking forward to them as well as the R-9s shipments.  More than one buyer who has sent me their deposts have said they feel like " a kid waiting for Christmas".  ME TOO!  ;D

And I'm first on your list, right John?  :)

I'm gearing up as well.  I already have my Hedley front pocket holster and mag carrier, as well as 3 boxes of 115gr Gold Dots...

The Nemesis is a temporary until I get my Milt Sparks PCH.  The last one I ordered for a P32 took 8 weeks to get.  I'll be sure to post some pics of the R9S version when I finally get it.

This thing feels and looks great, kind of like a little Excalibur,  especially with the Gothic script font.  I love the carbon fiber grips. They blend nicely with the gray frame.  The only flaws I could find on examination were a few little aberrations in the gray anodizing.
