Title: New Rohrbaugh Models -- Updated Info
Post by: DDGator on August 15, 2007, 10:49:47 AM
This is an update to the previous thread on this topic.  I spoke with Eric this afternoon and wanted to clarify some things.  It seemed like the easiest way was to start a new thread.   The old thread is closed.

Straight from the Rohrbaugh Factory – you heard it here first.  Rohrbaugh has announced new models/configurations of the R-9 for their most discriminating customers!

R-9 Elite

An R-9 with Diamond Black (DLC) slide with hand sanded sides as an accent.  Frame is black.  Polished feed ramp.  All levers have machined look.  G-10 grips.  All parts are hand selected for perfect fit and finish!   Retail: $1,395.

R-9 Elite Premium

Same as Elite, but all internal parts are glass beaded and polished by their in-house jeweler to include: polished feed ramp, trigger, trigger spring, hammer, ejector, extractor, plunger, barrel top, and all pins.  Magazine housing is glass beaded, then the backs are sanded to a satin look by hand.  The magazine base plates are high polished by hand.  Grips are carbon fiber (while they last).  Other grip materials are being investigated for use after the short supply of CF grips is exhausted. Retail: $2,245

R-9 Elite Premium “Full Custom”

Same as Elite, but Rohrbaugh will also offer “Full Custom” R-9s finished to your exact specs with relation to the finishes you want on your R-9, with the price dependant upon the work requested.

Eric wanted to be sure that everyone understands that the “full custom” services apply only to additional work (mostly finishes or other “cosmetic” features) ordered on the R-9 Elite Premium models.  While Rohrbaugh would have to have a “Custom Shop” down the road, they simply don’t have the ability to do custom work on client’s existing guns at this time.  Sorry, guys!  All in due time…  ;)

The new Elite models are going to be true works of art.

The other two models will continue, the Two-Tone and the Stealth.  But, there will be a small price increase as of August 15 – the Two-Tone will retail for $1,150 and the Stealth will retail for $1,195.

The Rohrbaugh website (www.rohrbaughfirearms.com) will be updated soon to reflect the new models.

Photos of the R-9 Elite can be seen here:

I purchase my r9 stealth after much investigation and hand wringing, the price of course was a concern and I do mean was! I finally got to the range and put a box through it with no problems. AWESOME little piece.

And now two new models? Are they available through the factory as I read and were the prices fairly accurate, my adenaline is starting to run!

If the Stealth price was a handwringer, and now you are
charged up about the Elites, you must have been ecstatic
after shooting the pup without a pedigree.

Ecstatic, yes.. I was really pleased. A sweet little gun that although took a bit of concentration to get used to the little guys bite it is a sweet little piece of engineering, and yes I am already allocating some funds to put towards one of the pedigreed models. In fact I may have room in the dog house for 2 more, one of each we shall see........

I agree and had the same feelings about wincing at the
initial price but also have been very happy with it.

Welcome to the forum. Exctatic is just one of the good words for an addictive little pup. I have a R9S Stealth and I have been watching for another. The timing on the elite may be just right for a 2nd one in the kennel. Since I have had my R9S I have a lot of dogs being left in the dog house.

Pups with papers is a good thing, too.

Terry, I think you should go for it. The price just went up on the 15th for the 2tone and stealth. Why not go for the elite or Premium. Unless you get that fantastic used model cheap. ;D John

John,

Need to wait until middle of September, need to see what's going to hapen with the Big 3 in the automotive market. If everything goes ok (contract is up) I may just get an elite. I may just dust off a gun or 2 in the safe and sell them. Have quite a few dust collectors now.

Terry

Let DD Gator get his Elite and give off a good report on it. ::)

Is this supposed to be a comment on my impartiality (or perceived lack thereof)?    ;)

WS6:  People have been banned from the forum for less than that...

Actually I just got word that my #2 is sitting at my FFL right now!

OK, OK, OK,  I'm salivating, palpitating, masterb_ _ _ _ _, I can't think straight now having not been on for awhile and seeing this.

The R-9 Elite is $1,395.  How much is the R-9 Elite Premium ?

Are they aimed at being 100% flawless for reliability ?

I need one.  This may have pushed me over the edge.  I'm embarrassed to say I just purchased a Springfield EMP for over a grand (partially for the wife).  Beautiful gun but I'm thinking about selling it (even before I saw this) because it's not what I fully expected.

Please let me know .......

Gator I can't wait to hear all about it. Like I told WS6 I am waiting to see how some conditions turn out at work. If things go ok I will get my second pup. Probably an elite depending on your feedback.

WS6 I would have to send the Delta Force after you If you had my elite. I might let you try it out first.

Haven't had a chance to check out the forum very often. Been doing some 12 hr shifts at work and seems like you just eat, sleep and work.

Green,

Yes, $2,245 is the suggested retail.  If you have a cozy relationship with your FFL you might likely do better than that, of course.

You have to remember the Premium is going to be a very limited, very exclusive custom firearm.  I don't think people are going to buy these for carry guns.  The factory doesn't expect to sell a lot of these each year.

The higher price is a result of the incredible amount of additional work and hand polishing that will go into the Premium.  Rohrbaugh has a jewler on staff who will be doing all the cosmetic work.  Plus, the Premium will have (for a while--while supplies last) the last of the carbon fiber grips.  After that, a similarly exotic grip option will be available.

Unless you are a collector, the R-9 Elite is going to give you everything you want, I think.  But, if you have $2,000+ burning a hole in your pocket....

Gator,

After almost 24 hours my heart is back to almost normal.  I'm still salivating over the Elite.  Thanks for your response it was helpful.  There are two Rohrbaugh dealers in CT and I've bought from both over the years -  not crazy about either though I defiantely have a working relationship with both.  I'm wondering if another CT dealer can call Rohrbaugh and buy the gun for me ? ?

I just wanted to thank Maria for her kind help and patience. I have called her twice now, yesterday and today. Yesterday she called me back after I left a message, no doubt she was swamped. I called her again today looking for a little more info on ordering an elite. She was professional, sweet and just a joy to deal with. The brothers are blessed to have her and I hope they get the message. So thank you Maria! Now all I have to do is find a dealer in South Florida who will give me a fair deal. Soon very soon! When I finally receive my elite, I am going to send her some well deserved flowers. Thanks again young lady! Excuse me if this was the wrong venue.

I have contacted my local dealer, whom I have used before,he has made the call, I have paid my deposit and I am now waiting for about 4 hours and 10 minutes with only how long to go? 4, 5, 6 weeks mayber argh............the agony.

And yes, a little premium was added on, Floridas dealers are not the most sympathetic folks. When your hooked your hooked.

If it's any comfort, I waited two years after being "hooked" by the protype unveiled at the 2002 Shot Show.  It was worth the wait.   8)

I have received my Elite at my local dealer on Friday. After examining it, taking it apart and putting her back together I can only say this is truly not only a very fine machine but a true work of art. It is like nothing else out there.Does anyone know if this is going to be a minimum run or whether the elites will be available for a longer period of time. I am contemplating the purchase of a second one for my son. He is not ready for it yet so I would put it away in the safe for a while a few years. I would love to see a premium, I do not know that I could justify that price though?

Hey. I am new here. I am getting a Rohrbaugh R9 as soon as my dealer gets some in stock (in about a month). I hope it is an Elite! By what he said the Elite is what he is taking stock on; I will need to check-in on this though!

My current carry gun is an HK P2000sk in .357 SIG, and will remain my main one. The R9 wil be in an ankle holster inside my boots. But, in the summer, maybe it will be my main carry piece!

Anywho, glad to be here! Don't know how active I will be, but I will certainly be reading as much as I can!

I live in Southwest Florida and wonder if anyone knows of a dealer in Collier County or Lee County who carries the Rohrbaugh line?

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum.

The Rohrbaugh website lists this:

Army Navy Fashion
3811-B Tamiami Tr.
Port Charlotte, Florida 33952
941-624-5199

If you call Rohrbaugh they may have a closer dealer thats not listed on the website. Good luck in your search.
