Extractor problem?
« on: July 07, 2017, 06:06:18 PM »
I have a problem that I THINK??? is related to the extractor. After firing 12-15 rounds I get a fired case hung half way up in the barrel with a new round trying to feed from the mag. This obviously locks things up.

The only way to free things up it to turn over, press the mag release and with a padded screwdriver pry the mag out. This releases the mag with remaining rounds, and leaves the fired case in the chamber.

This seems to only happen after 2-3 mags if this helps.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Did this occur with the same magazine or different magazines?

BINGO!!!! Great minds think alike. ;D ;D ;D I was thinking about this last night. I usually bring 4-6 mags along and it doesn't happen till the second or third mag. Monday, range day, I will start marking the mags. Thanks.

p.s. I field stripped it, cleaned it well, and replaced the recoil spring.

Also, make sure you let it cool between magazines.

That is a distinct possibility; give it at least two to three minutes between mags. As someone here wisely observed a cool gun is usually the one used in self defense.

Tracker hit it first. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D   The reason it took so long to get back on this is because I usually bring 6-7 mags and usually two different R9's. It would jam in ONE gun  on ONE mag and only then some of the time.

Thanks again Tracker.

I have moved the 'bad' mag to my junk gun bag and it LOOKS like all is well.

Williams will replace the defective mag with a new one.

Having a gun in your hand is much more effective than having the entire police department on the phone!
