Title: firing pin???
Post by: matthew on December 20, 2005, 10:04:34 PM
hello everyone first time to post.  just became a member, and i just bought a new r9s.  wow what a cool pistol. my wife is kind of ticked because I bought that and a Thunder Ranch the same day. well to my question. Can I take out the firing pin?  It looks like it comes out the same way a 1911 firing pin comes out on a 70 series.  If it does can you please let me know. I like to take them out on all my 1911's. and this one looks like i could. thanks

matthew,

The factory recommends  specific steps for dis-assembly and assembly, for cleaning and lubrication purposes.

They suggest the pistol not be broken down any further, unless done by a gunsmith.  Removal of the firing pin is not advised in the normal procedure.
