Short Range Trip
« on: March 09, 2024, 05:32:42 PM »
Took both of the new R9's to the range.

The newest one worked flawlessly using Federal Personal Defense HST 147 Grain JHP.  Only a couple magazines went through it.

The one I got a few weeks ago and a few failures to go into battery on the 4th shot.   Pushing the slide forward put the gun in battery and it fired fine.   This happened twice in 3 magazines.

Now this was sub-optimal conditions as neither of the guns has been cleaned or oiled yet.  It very well could be that that after cleaning it up the second one will function just as well as the first.

This was an unplanned range trip and wasn't quite ready but I really wanted to test them out.

The Seecamp however continues to jam and the round ends up bent when it fails to feed.    Going to have to try different ammo in that,  currently also using a federal JHP.  Going to take a lot of testing at this point for this to ever be a carry gun

The R9 needs lubrication and cleaning, IMO after each range trip.  Keep the right (off) side grip screws tight (essential!).  Polish the feed ramp.  Consider a fresh recoil spring.  This pistol was engineered at the bare edge of suitability for its ammunition and only rewards care and attention.  Good luck!
