Title: skeet, trap and clay shooters...
Post by: accur8shot on August 07, 2009, 06:23:12 PM
Any shotgun aficionados in here?  This seems like a classy bunch on here, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

There's a great shotgun range near me, and a couple of months ago I spent a morning trying my hand at shooting skeet.  I loved it.  I own a 12ga but it's a home defense weapon with pistol grip, single barrel and M-16 style sights, not a sporting gun.  Can anyone give me pointers on what I should look at for a good sporting clay shotgun?  I like quality, but don't want to go crazy in price.

Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum! I think you will find it to be a good and collegial group around here.

As for recommendations on a shotgun for sporting clays, Chuck Hawks has written this review which may be helpful:

If I could have my choice with no concern for price, it would be a pair of matched Purdys. But I'll probably have to win the lottery before that happens.

Great link - thanks for that, Richard.  I was looking for some good new gun porn!  I especially love those AYA's.
