Post by: thewalk on May 28, 2017, 03:14:41 PM
Posted in Other Guns as well, but i guess this is time-sensitive...

Hoping you guys will see the value in owning another gun that will fit your Rohrbaugh holsters!

I got an email that the RM380 is $177 after rebate, $227 before.

This one is cheaper initially and you don't have to pay shipping.  About $17 less before rebate.

Wow, so cheap. I wonder if they will ever build a 9mm version

I heard on a gun podcast that Remington did not buy the rights to build a 9mm, only the 380. Is that true Eric?  :o

That is false. Remington purchased the rights for the .380 and the 9mm. They had no interest in our R45. I doubt they will ever come out with a 9mm version. That was really on the edge and they probably feel the anticipated warranties are not worth it. The R9 in 9mm from Remington will most likely never be built, but if they do. . . . . I'd like to see that one for sure!

While not a Rohrbuagh, the RM380 is not a bad gun at all.  At this price, it's one of the best deals I have ever seen.

I agree but I would not buy this gun because of the trigger as stated in this link.

I have had a RM380 from when they first come out and the trigger on mine is not at all like the description in the review.

It is probably not as good as the R380 I have shot, but better than most small pistols.

It has been said in other articles that the triggers vary greatly from one RM380 to the next and I have to believe that.  That is the difference between a $177.00 gun and a $1200.00 gun in my opinion.

I sold mine due to the trigger needing a weight lifter to help me pull it. You get what you pay for.

I would still own the Rohrbaughs I had in my possession if I had felt that parts, mechanical issues, would be able to be dealt with in future years simply because they were made the very best they could be.  I personally have trouble buying/owning a gun that had its
final quality control managed by the marketing department. To me, personal protection is not a "marketing" function.

Mine had a tiny bit of a "catch" just before firing but it smoothed up after a couple of mags.

It really is a nice pistol for the money.

Yeah -- you can't buy anything for this kind of money.  If it works--and they seem to--it's a good value for the price conscious buyer.

I have to say. . . . . I do like my RM380 except for the shape of the trigger, which bites my finger. When Remington opened up the trigger guard, they should have also opened up the curvature radius of the trigger so that doesn't happen. . . . . but what do I know!  lol

Now it's the same price as the link I posted, due to the fact you paying shipping with them. 8)

For a list of the 'best deals' I do a UPC search.  Then you can compare the prices and shipping charges side by side.

That's pretty cool! Thanks for the info! I still think that's a GREAT price for a Remington, much less one with this lineage. Thanks to Eric for his input on the trigger. Good to know.

That is a good site; however, it doesn't reflect the generous mail-in rebates going on with Walther and S&W now: Any new M&P Shield purchased between now and June 30 will receive a $75 rebate and here is the Walther offer.

the price made me really wanted to get one just for the heck of it, and then I noticed the mag-release...... no go. The side release is not suitable for pocket carry IMO. Same reason I didn't buy a Kahr 380.  >:(

Simple answer. . . . . After February 2019. . . . technically? . . . . . yes . . . . . But, at this time, probably won't be happening as Karl and I will be too old to deal with the business and "baloney" of having an FFL and manufacturing license again. It was a real pain in the butt and we would be well into our retirement years at that point. But, you never know, do we.

Just wanted to report I am very happy with my RM380 purchases spurred by this post re the rebate deal. The first thing I noticed was the smooth buttery trigger pull far superior to any other “cheap” mouse gun I’ve ever owned. The pull is even and smooth requiring minimal effort and has a nice smooth break. Maybe the first runs were bad but they sure seemed to figure out how to improve them. I ended up buying 5 standard RM380’s and used the $500 rebate check to buy 2 more with the “teal” frame for $215 each at grabagun. The frame is a nice medium blue with the stainless look to the slide. After rebate my standard RM’s cost me $139 each about $150 each with shipping and FFL costs. Overall I’m very happy with the deal but sad to hear Remington is filing for bankruptcy in 2018

The RM380 is a great deal for the price point. . . . Hands down! Have fun with your cache!

They do shoot well too.

Depending on how well made they are, may need all seven for parts guns since Remington is now officially in bankruptsy.

tests and range reports shooting multi thousands of rounds seem all positive so far but hell I know Seecamp owners who paid a lot more and had the slide blow off in the first 10 rounds and I've yet to see a multi thousand round firing report on any R9 ever so at $150 a pop I'll not be crying if I end up chucking one or all in the trash over time

They're not going anywhere.

Remington's bankruptcy is a common business practice for restructuring.

They will be around for years to come . . . . . . Just like G.M. and Chrysler.
