Title: Slide Crack
Post by: 5hole2 on December 10, 2006, 06:48:32 PM
Sorry for not logging in on my original name of "5hole", but I couldn't get my password emailed to me.

Anyway, my pup has developed a crack on the left side rear of the slide. I've atached some pictures of it for viewing. I know I have seen some threads on this. I wanted to know if this particular cracking is what other owners have experienced.
Also, what is Rohrbaughs policy towards this. I am the original owner and have owner the R9s for 6 months. This is my primary and only carry. Will rohrbaugh send me a new slide first so I can continue to carry my R9s now, and send the cracked slide back once I receive the new one?

By the way, my s/n is 105x

Thanks for your help

The Bros R will take care of you..

You will have to send the gun to them,I am afraid though..

Contact them first thing tomorrow, and they should be able to give you directions..

I am sorry to hear of your problem-this is always troubling to hear about..

I am sure you will be taken care of..

Shole2:

Brenden is right.  You should contact the factory first thing tomorrow.  They will do what has to be done.

The problem of a cracked slide has occurred in a very limited number of pistols.  Yours is the seventh of whch I have heard out of some 2000 R9s produced to date.  I believe the problem was traced to a defective batch of bar stock.  In any event, as Brenden says, Rohrbaugh will make the necessary repairs.

That is the same place as most of the cracks - you will get it back from Rohrbaugh as good as new.

Erich - nice to hear from you again.

Thanks, MountainMan!  :)

There's going to be more radio silence from here, I fear - I'm off to Cancun first thing in the morning!  8)

tracker, that was a fine sentiment.

Some of us had to resort to Google.   :)

I'm glad to see Erich posting more.

He provided a fine-looking chili recipe, but I haven't tried it yet.
It is hard to find ingredients sometimes.  He very generously offered to send some peppers through the mail.

I've discovered a nearby place with outstanding chili to help get through those emergency periods when you have to have it.

We are big on tacos here in this region.  They are Tex-Mex.   Once you get used to them, I find it hard to enjoy honest-to-goodness Mexican tacos, as served in the nearby authentic restaurants.

Bill,
You are right on target about the tacos. I grew up[almost]
in Austin and puffed crispy tacos with ground beef---
phenomenal! It is hard to find good fresh tacos but, as you
implied, they have to be ground beef. Good ones are an art.
Feliz Ano Novo!

Happy New Year, tracker.

Nothing beats the wonderful aroma of the cooked tortilla.  We are fortunate to have a factory about twenty minutes away.

I did not quite make it to Austin, but did enjoy the Bandera region  and managed to ruin a perfectly good T-34 near Sabinal.

I recall one fine Bandera watering hole where sawdust was on the floor and we threw peanut shells down with impunity.

Hey Erich - nice pics - nice weather by look of it.  Good to see you drop by.

I have been less than regular visiting here of late.

Welcome from me too to 5hole :)

Many thanks - I've been mostly hanging out at handgunplace forums and (of course) the S&W Forum. Folks here are so nice, though.

You're all welcome over at handgunplace, by the way  :):
