Black Carbon Fiber Grips

Are the older black carbon fiber grips Rohrbaughs worth much more than the std grip newer models?

Welcome to the forum!

To some people yes, to others no.  I like the CF grips for looks but for function the checkered hogue grips are the best IMO.  If you found one at a good price i'd go for it, you can always get a set of the checkered grips from the factory store if you dont like the cf grips and pocket a couple hundred bucks to boot.

50peso:

1. Welcome to the Forum.

2. In answer to your question, yes, on the resale market. The original black CFs have become collectors' items, if you can find them ($300+/-). However, "Yankee" and "Enigma" are working on projects which may provide after-market grips in carbon fiber or nearly any other appropriate material you care to have.

The R9's aftermarket grips have to come from a CNC program -- or a carver with the patience of Job. I spent the cost of another R9 trying to have a set of sterling silver grips cast for my R9 using the lost-wax process. The result would have added three Troy ounces of weight to the pistol but could not be done due to the slight -- and I do mean slight -- shrinkage from the original which results from the process. The two screws on each of the R9 grips have to be absolutely and  perfectly alligned. For a handgun having only one grip screw per panel, it's easily done -- as shown by this pair on my G-380, which has been primarily a "safe queen" since I took delivery of the R9:
