Shooting grip for the R9

I usually use a standard two handed grip (right hand dominant) on all of my pistols, modified only for size.  Recently at the range I have on occasion placed my left forgive return on the front of the trigger surround.  I wear size 8 gloves and that seems to fit and to further stabilize the grip...feels pretty natural.  I do have a Yankee hooked grip extension on that pistol.  Anybody else try that grip on small pistols?  Comments?
