Like any high dollar auctions. A lot of times people bid just to bid in order to say they were a part of the auction but then the winning bidder doesnt pay and it goes back up for auction again. Usually for a lesser amount, closer to its actual worth.

I have sold over 300 handguns on G-broker. I ALWAYS include the phrase " If you have no bid history or ANY history of non paying your bid will be rejected." I had one non payer and got him banned from G-broker. He told me he had a family emergency so I let it go then two days later be bought another more expensive gun. That got him banned.

Most of the time when this happens it is a shill bidder working with the Seller.
The high end Colt auctions are full of them.
By the way, it went for 75K+. The Seller has the an impeccable reputation for accuracy and honesty.

It certainly seems like an untouched piece of Colt 1911 history. I'm sure it went to someone of stature that has an incredible collection of vintage Colts. A gunsmith friend of mine in upstate New York has a 1907 Colt .45 that when he showed it to me some 10 years ago was valued around $7 - 8,000.00, and I see them today garnering some $30 - 40,000.00 . . . . Wow! All it takes is the want and the money to have it in your own safe! It seems he made some $20 - 30,000.00 in ten years just for leaving it there! Better than any saving account I guess! Ha haa . . . . .
