first week, excellent little gun
« on: May 26, 2010, 06:18:19 PM »
Had the Rohrbach R9s for about a week now. 200 rds fired, no malfunctions with American Eagle(federal), RWS, Nyclad or Gold dots.
Accuracy is very good. RWS shot a  5 1/2", 3 shot group at 50yds freehand. All ammo shoots to point of aim with the exception of the Nyclad, which I suspect is due to the unusual nylon jacket
Velocitys with the Gold dots are around 1025 fps, RWS 125 gr. 950 fps and . 125 gr Nyclads 990 fps.
For comparison, .38 special 125 gr.Nyclads go 740 fps and Corbon DPX 110 gr. goes 950 fps
The feel of chambering a round makes evident the quality built into this little pistol. The recoil is smooth, Not what I was expecting at all.
Precise, accurate and reliable. Its the Rolex of pistols.

I don't usually practice 50 yards with a pocket gun, but I'm very impressed with the accuracy of my R9.

Next time out, I may see what I can do at 50 yards.

Thanks for the warm welcomes!
I have been interested in a small 9mm for many years.
I saw a Tim Lafrance custom chopped Star BM back in 1986, so I bought the BM but never got around to the chop$$$. The BM was and is a fine pistol.
Then much later I tried a Kel Tec P11 for 1 day and returned it :-/
I bought a Kahr P9, excellent little shooter, still own it, cut down to "covert" size grip. The PM9s were not as accurate.
I have a Kel tec P9, good gun for a tinkerer ::) accurate and a good value
And of course, eveyone has a Glock 26, right? Shaped like a brick, but a very good one
My "Roarbug" has it all. A great example of Made in USA.
I thought I should stop shooting on the 3rd shot at the 50yd target and go home :D ;D

Been there and done that!

Some 20+ years ago I talked a friend into purchasing a Colt Mustang, which was my pocket gun at the time. He bought one but called me a few days later complaining that he couldn't hit the side of his barn with it. We went out to the range he had built at his farm and he gave me the pistol, which I proceeded to check, load, and take to what I recall as the 25-yard line. There was a "virgin" target mounted down range.

I fired one shot, which nicely centered itself in the "10" ring. I was as surprised as my friend was, but since my momma didn't raise the village idiot I just smiled, engaged the pistol's slide safety, and handed it back to him with the comment, "Seems all right to me."   ;D
