You guys in Florida are having a bad summer! Hope you aren't in the path of this one..GOOD LUCK!
-
The "Late News" shows it going across the State, just North of me, last one was just East of me .
All the forecasts show we will be missed by the *EYE*, but this can change as the last one did.. :'(
Can my luck hold out.. ???

Regardless, it looks like me, RJ and K-Man are going to have a crappy weather weekend.
The real pain will start when next year's Homeowners insurance renewals hit our mail boxes...
-
Good Luck to the Florida members of this forum. Hope all the bad weather and high winds swing away from you.
-
I'm in Winter Haven, in Central Polk County, if you are tracking the Storm on the News. The path projected now, is Darn close..
It doesn't look very good right now..

RJ, Duane, and K-Man:
Good luck to you and yours as you face this new monster of a hurricane.

Good luck Duane and RJ. Are either of you evacuating? Have a relative in Atlanta who had plans to go to Tampa today and left for Tampa from Atlanta in spite of storm. Sounded crazy to me...if nothing else, the traffic and confusion will make travel crazy down there I would think.

You FL guys hang in there! Hope you weather this one OK also!
I was telling my father today that one day I may shake the dust of this little town off my feet and move to the Tampa/St Pete area. A place I call "home away from home". He said "what about these hurricanes?" I told him I'd live in a big RV I could drive away during the storms or, being a boater, live on a boat I could hopefully drive out of the area fast enough. Thought it was a humorus conversation. :)
Seriously, stay safe!!

I have lived here my whole life. We have always rode them out, but this one looks very bad and I feel there will be damage from this one.
We shall see.
-
It is still too early to know how bad the effects will be over here. The storm has slowed down quite a bit, and we won't start getting the brunt of it until around Sunday. It will be a long, wet holiday weekend for certain... hopefully nothing worse.
The bad part of the storm slowing down is that some areas could see hurricane force winds for 18 hours! Ouch.

This makes Georgia look mighty good right now, but the roads are parking lots, people are running out of gas on the Interstate Highways because of traffic being so slow. Lot's of gas stations out of gas already.
So much for the Evacuation Routes...
-
Yeah -- for those not subjected to this news 24/7, the Port of Miami has been closed for a day or more and they are out of gas and can't get more. Stations are drying up very quickly.
Gas is still readily available here for now. My tank was 3/4 full, but I topped it off this morning and didn't have to wait in line. When Charley came through, we ran out of gas in a lot of locations too.

Just been outa town 2 days and was watching Weather Channel in motel .... heck, that thing is huge and ... not so good it has slowed so much.
All I can say is ... hunker down you FL guys and take great care - seems like this might dump way too much rain, as well as wind considerations.
Stay in touch as best you can - and I'll hope soon we can have you all check in saying you are OK.
