Tom

Actually, I'm not in New Mexico anymore. I now live just outside of New Orleans

On second thought, I don't think I really need a Bug Out Kit.  Everybody in the South loves Jesus...and would NEVER hurt anyone, right?  It really IS a safe world!

I'm going up to the Smokies to pick some flowers... ::)

Actually, all your comments have been great so far.  Unfortunately, some people I know have an overly rosey picture of human nature, and trust people in mass.  Had a conversation w/ someone the other day on this topic.  They could not FATHOM that society could easily break down, and that the "authorities" might not be there to save their bacon.  Amazing, isn't it - even in the face of consistent proof to the contrary!

Well, I'm keepin' my BOB in the car, just in case.  Hope I never have to use it though.

dfsutton,

You have some great stuff but you are missing a couple of very important things:  Antibiotics and pain managment meds.

Yeh, but one thing you won't need is laxatives. Everyone will be scared S**tless;^)

Sorry, shouldn't make light of something serious. But I feel good today! So I'm going for it;^)

Living in Florida, and very near the water, we bug-in. We've got food, fuel, generator, water, etc. However, in the event of some other event - like a nuke in Miami, we would haul what we could and relocate, likely staying with family for a while.

We are, however, in the process of buying a little something in a state that enjoys all four seasons, and is pro-RKBA, as a future investment/vacation home and possible bug-out location if necessary.

Duncan:

May I suggest the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee as being worthy of consideration?   8)
