I jumped into the 10mm platform and have been having a blast with it.
I wanted something small so I bought a S&W CS40 and had the barrel reamed to 10mm then I bought an STI Shadow and the same thing done, I also had to put stronger springs in both and rework the CS40 nag to accept the 10mm ammo.
Both shoot great and are very manageable even with full power Undarwood ammo, which is about as hot as you can buy or would want to shoot in any 10mm gun (it's not recommended for use in Colt Deltas)

Do these (CS40) handle full load 10mm, or you shoot the FBI lite loads?
I've got a 4040PD and 6906 that I really like and I wish they still made them like this.

Which of these beasts do you prefer for cc?

Is it about like a .357 sig with a 40 cal round bullisticly speaking?
Or is there much more to it than that?
Also, what caliber are you reaming the barrel on to make a 10mm out of Yank?

If you are seriously thinking about 10mm for CC I would suggest some hearing protection. I have never heard of 10mm for CC.

10 mm is to .40 as .357 Mag is to 38 special.
The thing is that 10mm full power loads ended up being too hot for a few guns and shooters as well. So they loaded it down and that's what they called the FBI lite loads. It was getting very close to hot .40 loads and I think people really questioned the point of the cartridge. It would be like buying a .357 mag and reducing the power down to 38 special loads. I think full house loads are close to 1300 ft pounds at the muzzle. That's about double 9mm +P if i recall.

BULListically speaking it will kill you deader than about anything yah shoot'n out of autoloader. Well, could be an automag or desert eagle that would hold it's ground.

I really like 10mm and have lots of them. My favorite is a Springfield Omega, 6",and ported or the venerable Bren Ten that started it all.
I have a 9X25, 6" barrel for my Glock 20 which drops in. Quite a blaster.

Have you ever owned the Eaa Witness 10mm? I have had great luck with CZ rifles and one pistol I owned, and always thought about getting one of these.

I own a 10mm Witness that I bought used and have never shot it very much. I paid $300 and it came with a 40 S&W drop in barrel so you can see why I bought it.

I would like to get a 10mm someday but I want a BIG gun to handle that load.

After returning from bear country I would like an auto to pack for bear and 10mm is the choice and I love Glock dependability, soooooooo I'm thinking about a G29.
Anyone experienced the full load in a 29? Seems like it shouldn't be too bad. How does it compare to a 27?

I am a big 10mm fan and have shot my mod 20 a lot and it is an excellent firearm. I have never shot a mod 29 and I have never wanted one, but I could be wrong.
The 29 is by no means a small firearm and I figure if I am going to carry something on my belt, why go small. The 29 weighs 27 oz vs 31 oz for the 20 which is not much when you are already that heavy. A little longer barrel and 15 +1 capacity is what I like about the 20.
Four of five years ago I thought the 10mm was going to die but it is seeing a resurgence recently which I welcome. Good ammo is available readily on line but you will have to search for it locally.
Check out the 10mm forum, about everyone who posts there seems to own a mod 29. Good luck.

The main reason I like the 29 is IF I wanted to also CC I could have the option. I'm kinda weird like that. I rarely ever use a full size. They just sit in the safe. This way I would have an additional reason to pull it out, train with it and possibly pack it. Yes, I still have to lie to myself and act like a gun purchase is really practical before shelling out the cash. I don't know why, but I have totally lost credibility with my wife on the subject.
This dude is a true wealth of knowledge, but CAUTION: DO NOT GO TO THE 10mm FORUM! I had an overwhelming urge to go buy that G29 as soon as I went there. Thanks a lot MRC!

Josh - The 10mm forum is a very active forum with a lot of very knowledgeable members. Post what you are wanting to do with the 10mm that you are planning to purchase, and they will give you tips on which way to go.
I am partial to full sized, long barreled, heavy weight pistols when I get into the 10mm. The 6" ported Springfield Omega's are my favorites. They are built like a tank.

There-in lies the problem. They are discontinued and parts are no longer available. They came out with a lifetime warranty and I have heard of people getting replacement guns of some other type, but I cannot confirm that. If you are going to use the pistol for marathon target sessions, the Glock probably would be a better choice for you.
If you like the 1911 platform as I do, these are a very good fit for the 10mm with its high pressures and high slide velocities. It employs a linkless desigh and the barrel slide lockup is similar to what Sig and Glock use. The Peters-Stahl sights are very good and much like what Bomar used to put out.

As far as price goes it varies. This one was LNIB for $1000. I have another NIB I paid $900 for. They are available most of the time on GunBroker, but prices vary a lot. All of them on GB right now are over priced in my opinion.
