Mine functions flawlessly with Hornady Critical Defense 115 Gr. and Speer Gold Dots 115 Gr or 124 Gr.

Neither has ever failed to function in the pup.

Welcome to the group. I'm glad you have not had any of the Hornady Critical Defense issues some have experienced.
Have you had your pup since 12/08 ?

Arkdweller, welcome to the best forum on the internet. Sounds like you're doing it right, let the pup tell you what it likes, then feed it that. Again welcome.    Gene

Tried Silver-tips and they had a bit of a bark and muzzle flash. I then tried Win 147gr subsonic HP and there was less recoil and less muzzle flash.
What was the chief complaint of 147gr in a small 9mm?

As I recall one reservation was possible keyholing but the jury wasn't unanimous on that vote. Many on this forum like the 147 gr.

I believe the chief complaint might have involved alleged lack of reliable expansion. Reasonable minds differ on the subject.

Here is a link to an article by Charles Petty on the general subject of 9mm ammo:

Thanks all for the replies.

I have now worked out all bugs and find that gold dots (125 gr) work perfectly and that is great as it is my preferred round.

I have 200 rounds of this ammo and not one issue, so I am very happy and now I can carry it with confidence.

eye_spy,
Good to hear, Gold Dots are an excellent carry round and easier to come by than Silver Tips.

Very good, eye_spy.  Another happy camper around the fire.  Excellent.

Yes sir, I have had my Rohrbaugh since 12/08. I will be writing up about my experience with this great little pistol in a separate thread, as I don't want to hijack someone else's thread  ;) ;)
