Can the R9 be fired with out Mag? I believe sow but don't recall ever seeing anyone say.

I believe you are correct.  That is 1 inherent quality that I feel my pocket gun should have.  On the rother hand, it is safe to say that most everyone will never use their R9 other than on the range so in the end, does it really matter?  I say yes.

The answer is yes.

I could care less about a mag safety.

Safetys are a relatively new invention for firearms.  IMO safetys are for people who should not be handling firearms in the first place.  Never, ever count on a mechanical safety.
