Are You a Democrat, Republican or a Redneck?
« on: March 08, 2006, 07:02:13 PM »
Just in fun!

Are You a Democrat, Republican or a Redneck?

Here is a little test that will help you decide. The answer can be found by posing the following situation and question:

You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, an Islamic Terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, praises Allah, raises the knife, and charges at you.  You are carrying a Glock cal 40, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Democrat's Answer:
Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!
Does the man look poor! Or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?  Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand?  What does the law say about this situation? Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it?
Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?  Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me?  Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?  If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me?
Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted?  We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day and make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior. This is all so confusing! I need to discuss with some friends over a latte and try to come to a consensus.
Republican's Answer:
BANG!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Redneck's Answer:
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! Click.....
(sounds of reloading).
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! Click ...
Daughter: "Nice grouping, Daddy! Were those the Winchester Silver Tips or Jacketed Hollow Points?"
Son: "You got him Pop! Can I shoot the next one?"
Wife: "You are not taking that to the Taxidermist!"

Just because some of us are rednecks (as in, who let all those liberals in the GOP), doesn't mean we wouldn't know enough to keep the clip for his buddies...besides, those darn Republicans seem to just wing theirs....

Good one!  But let's see how much heat I can generate: progressive dem-leaning (actually registered indie).  Yeah, you read that correctly - I'm a lib who supports the 2A (and all the others!), has owned and shot guns for 40+ years, thinks anyone who wants to take my guns doesn't deserve office, have my CCW ( and just helped by writing each and every rep in Iowa to pass HF 2688 ) and is a happy member of this Forum (with an R9 in the 2xx range).  And I know a lot of people like me.  Well, most of 'em don't have a 'pup' yet, but I'm workin' on that...

OK, flame on... :o

Oh, and yeah, it'd be shoot to slide-lock, then reload to look for the next SOB...

Seven - there are some conservative dems who are much better than liberal republicans like McKain and Specter.  As long as they believe in the 2A, death penalty, USA is numer 1, think the New York Times is only good for the bottom of a bird cage, against abortion, welfare and etc, etc, then they are ok no matter what they call themselves.

Where I work 98% are true liberal Dems - it is interesting.  Sometimes I'll show one of them my CCW just to see the look on their face.

Really, until the 60's or so, neither party was anti-gun...of course, until FDR, neither was socialist either...

MMan -  Yeah, that'll be interesting.  I'll grant that there's a lot on the far left, or who never have been exposed to guns, who have bought into the whole Brady BS.  But I find it very interesting that even on a *very* liberal site, such as dailykos.com, where I post a lot, there's a lot of recognition that being anti-2A is just stupid both in logic and tactically.  There's a surprising number of CCW-holders on that site, based on discussions I've had there.  I think that some recent events (Katrina comes to mind) have forced even a bunch of the knee-jerk jerks to reconsider.

Me, I just try and get people to think, and to realize that being a 'gun nut' or CCW-holder doesn't really have anything to do with most other political beliefs.  It's always fun to take someone who's never been out to the range, and watch them find out how the reality is very different from what they've been told/seen in movies.  Maybe some of your 98% will change their mind that way.

Anyway, I didn't mean to hijack a good funny - just wanted to point out that liking a good tool, and supporting the Constitution don't have to be partisan issues.

I probably am closest to Libertarian in philosophy.  Everyone should have the right to carry, no questions asked.  If Liberartarians ran the country, Sept. 11th never would have happened, since 25% or so of the people on those planes would have been armed.

Libertarians have a few agenda items I don't agree with, but as a general rule they believe that the Constitution gives us enough guidelines and regulations, and beyond that, Government should leave us alone.

Dave,
That is a great joke and ever so true in an "overall" sense!!

I probably fall more towards the "redneck" category,even though I live north of the M-D line!! ;)

True enough about the Dems though,and only because they have let the FAR Left take over their party!! :(

And IMO,the Repubs better get a LOT more fiscally responsible and start acting like "Conservatives" >:(

Hitting your target is my idea of gun control.. 8)

I've always been torn about allowing the general populace to be armed on a plane -- I supposed it'd be a simple matter to have the guns checked as part of security to ensure there loaded w. appropriate ammo -- that, and I think a "sleeper" terrorist might be able to meet the requirements for a CCW -- truth is, had people expected the hijackers to crash the planes, rather than divrt them, it never would have happened -- a few guys w. knives will not stop hundreds of people who know they're about to die -- I doubt another hijacking will suceed.
