Col. Jeff Cooper, father of the Modern Technique, master of defensive pistol and riflecraft, and all around great American, passed away yesterday afternoon at home with his family.

He was a truly remarkable human being -- warrior, scholar, gentleman.  Requiescat in pace.

I somehow say this coming after the report on him a few days ago - sad too to learn how much pain he had been battling.  In a sense a merciful release but - for sure we have lost a legend.

He will be remembered by countless thousands and so in a sense has a wonderful obituary.

RIP Jeff.

A true Icon of Gun lore and a legend that will be truly missed..

I will end up missing his thoughts on the final page of G&A!!

I hope they decide to run all the "old" columns again!! :)

Well, Jeff Cooper lived a long and very full life.  I'll certainly miss his monthly column in G&A.

In a way, it feels as if I have lost a mentor as I've been reading his stuff for more years than I can remember.

Rest easy, Col. Cooper.
