How many rounds can be fired through the r380 pistol before replacing the outer recoil spring with a new one ? Thanks, Hank

I have never heard a number assigned to the .380 spring; only that it should last longer than the R9 recoil spring.

Yes, but how much longer will it last compared to the r9, which is about 200 rounds ?  Hank

I have never heard nor have I seen a specific quantification of the recommended replacement point on the .380. Maybe Duane could inquire within his contacts.

tracker is giving good advice, but the 380 operates at half the chamber pressure of the 9mm and the case is a slightly smaller in diameter.  From an Engineering perspective I can see no reason that the springs should not last well over 1000 rounds and probably over 2000 rounds.

Duane should ask Eric for his opinion though.

Good luck with your purchase.  Three springs should last the life of the pistol.

Eric is not certain.  He has never seen the recoil spring on the .380 wear out.  It would certainly seem to be good for 400-500 rounds, and maybe more.  The stress on the spring is not even close to that of the 9mm.

Thanks for the information on the spring life DDGator!  I only have one left so my 380 is taking a well deserved rest in the safe until I can procure more (although I am going to shoot it at 25 yards next time I go to the range because of a post here that has sparked my curiously!
