Is this the gun? This must be the full model.

tracker, I've been watching it with great interest!  Purchase was going to be automatic.

Meanwhile, I was forced to make a decision.  My HK USP .45 is on the borderline of being too large, because of small hands.

At the same time, they were starting to build a Milt Sparks 55BN belt holster for the USP above.

I called Milt Sparks just in time and switched the holster to the Compact model, and then ordered the Compact from CDNN in Abilene, Texas.

It arrived overnight and I'll pick it up tomorrow.  Teddy Jacobson's favorite small .45s are the Glock 36 and the USP Compact.

The HK45 looks much the same, except you can change the grip  backstraps for a better fit.  I hope it becomes the new US military pistol.

I noticed that the new HK 45 has the O ring barrel whereas
I think that the only USP model to have that feature is
the Tactical model in addition to the MK 23. Am I reading
that correctly?

I don't know much about the O ring.  Will have to look into that.

Yes, the O-ring is a feature in the Mark 23, USP Tactical, and USP Compact Tactical (also available in .45 -- and for sale now, if you can't wait for the HK45).

I'll be buying the HK45 as soon as I can find one available.
I'm not a gun expert -- but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night...

The O-ring supposedly improves accuracy by keeping the barrel stationary for a fraction of a second longer.
I had a USP45 Tactical and a USP9 but sold them. I didn't like their ergonomics. The new USP45 has apparently addressed that issue, so I'll be taking a close look when they become available.

When the HK45 arrives, this could be a good place to buy.  Both of my USP 45s came from there.

Thanks for the link, Bill; I had seen their catalog before
but had forgotten about them and enjoyed the revisit.

You are welcome, tracker.

The great part is their low price!

HK has a new plant and office in Columbus, Ga. Just outside Ft. Benning.....so they are really after the new US pistol contract as well as the new rifle contract.

The new HK45 is starting to look a little goofy.  I realize this is not the final version, most likely.

Well, maybe it's  just a color problem.

I personally don't like it either.  It's a coin-toss between the Beretta 90-Two and the HK45 for who has the UGLIEST gun of 2006.

Both look hideous!
