Just qual'ed for HR 218

To any who do not actually shoot their pup.

I am retired LEO and we are allowed to EDC in all 50 states due to HR 218 - federal law.

But we have to qual with any gun we carry interstate,so I decided to add the R-9 to my list and therefore had to shoot a 50 round qualifer.

I outshot most on the line using my R-9 and that was from 3/7/15 & 25 yards.

No I would not actually engage at 25 yards - but its good to know that it can ,and I did.

Shot a perfect 100 out of 100 too.

Thanks,all there were VERY surprised to see a pistol that small in a caliber of that ilk - shoot so well.

   North Carolinians with CC permits can carry in 32 states outside of ours. But I'm sure if everyone had to qual to do it many would have to leave there guns at home.

Funny that in my state with my CCW there is no limit to what gun I carry.

But if I go to another state the HR 218 says that I have to qual with a particular gun ,I like the idea that all should know and PROVE they can shoot prior to actually carrying.

But not the idea that I have to show my skills and those with a multi-state CCW do not.

btw,I did qual with 5 pistols in case I want to change or carry more than one - which I often do.

In Texas if you qualify with a semi-auto you can carry any pistol, including any revolver. However, if you qual with a revolver you can only carry a revolver. I don't understand why the rules would be so burdensome that one would have to carry a specific gun.

In NC we can carry revolver or auto, and there is no qualifying other than shooting about thirty or forty rounds during your CC course. Some people borrowed guns from friends or family to use during the class.
  To purchase a gun if you don't have a CC permit, you go to the Sheriff in your County, give them your drivers license they run a check and within ten minutes or so you can purchase four permits ($5 ea.) to purchase pistols. I have never checked to see how often you can do this, but have heard it's up to your local Sheriff.
   I do enjoy NC much more than I did NY when it comes to gun ownership.

I also got my 218 qualification a few months ago. I had to shoot auto and revolver to carry both. I think a yearly qualified is a pain, but for what it gives us I guess it is worth it. Florida came up with it's own set of standards which makes it easier then having to travel up North to get qualified.

Interesting that some feel you have to qual with a particular gun and others with a style of gun = revolver v/s auto ?.

I have to qual with a gun that is listed on my papers so I can carry only those that I qual'ed with ,dont make sense to me - but as you say its worth the right to carry interstate.
