I am guessing it is not a gun..
Probably a share of stock of Rohrbaugh!! 8)
Now that got my attention!
My bet is some Red carbon fiber grips. If so I call dibbs up to $30,0000. :o
Well, its not the forum...
The prototype 380 sits in the infamous safe at Rohrbaugh, and I don't think that will be for sale.
I have no control over when this info is released, its awaiting approval from the top!
Guesses don't hurt though. ;)
If it were a gun there would have to be a reserve price.
Ooops. Bad news, guys. I misunderstood -- apparently the factory is closed this week for vacation. I won't have an official word on this until at least Monday.
Sorry!
Well laid plan sir, well laid plan!!! ;)
The hook has been set....
This may now be more like a trot line with several hooks having already been set. ;)

Wished I could take a week off! Well, I take that back. I'm glad I have work to do.... :)
Considering the coin required for a presentation box and for two slabs of old ivory, if I'm going to keep my discretionary spending account in shape for whatever is about to appear in this thread, I think I'd better take another look at the offer of a certain appellate case I was about to decline. :-/
And to add more chaos to the mix...WE CAN NOW MAKE BLUE CARBON FIBER GRIPS! :o

On a holding pattern until at least Monday.
Keep your checkbooks handy... Unfortunately, there is only one of these so...
I don't anticipate a first come, first served thing -- everyone will get notice of what is available. Not sure how we will resolve who gets it if there is a lot of interest. Maybe an auction... I am waiting for guidance.
Spendy? Everything is relative, but I would say definitely yes.
KJ suggested we sell off a few CDs, so I took one to a yard sale my neighbor was having, "The best of Queen" I think it was. Only got three bucks for it. Sure hope this is enough. Gene
I have a 9am meeting with my banker to extend my line of credit up to a $1,000,000. Gosh I hope thats enought. :o If not I will have to sell off a couple of the beach houses and maybe even one of the skyrise's if needed. We'll just have to wait and see how much is needed. ;)

I guess you don't want to use any of your gold reserve.

I'm surprised there's not more members tuned in for this HEADS UP, MONDAY! However, the hour is early, in some places. :)
I guess we have a good list of potential bidders. ;)
Should I get you all pre-qualified? ;D
You're going to be to weak to bid! ;D
Watch out y'all...new guy in the game!
I'm hungry for everything Rohrbaugh and have practice as a sniper on E-bay :)
Can't wait to see what this is!
its alright....took some steroids and a Xanex for the anxiety
and my finger is "super-glued" to the "bid button"....

Don't forget, now, this last for a week. ;D
We may have hit a snag... I know I am losing all credibility at this point. Sorry I announced too soon, just thought it was exciting. Tonight seems unlikely -- it will happen, its just a question of when.
Just give us the pictures and work the words out later.

That would be good!
Attorney / client privaledge...
If Eric and Karl hadn't "lawyered up", Every word wouldn't have to be to be scrutinized!
Bloody lawyers...!!! ;D ;D
Careful now, we have a distingushed one on our side. ???
I hope :o
But then, this deal sounds like every man for himself.
What do ya say Rich?
Well the problem with this forum is EVERYBODY has something to help decipher.....
Maybe that's why it such a "polite" forum.
Sound like you two have it worked out! ;D
Yeah, until Gator posts THE ITEM---
Then I'm sure it's all bets are off! ???
* * *Lord, Enigma, I spend a couple of hours with a client, come back, and find the need to reaffirm my loyalty. ;)
Bloody lawyers...!!! ;D ;D
Thank you, Tracker. That is high praise from a superb source indeed.
Appellate work does have its advantages. It gives you a "stage" on which to "strut and fret" (as Shakespeare might have described it); your clients (other lawyers) bring the work to you; the work can pretty much be accomplished on your own schedule (within briefing and argumentation deadlines); and now and then you get to right a grievous wrong. That latter happy circumstance occurred one day last month. The referring laywer was stunned, the appellant wept with relief and joy, and the fee went for an appropriate 14th anniversary present for the awesome lady to whom I have the great good fortune now to be wed.
Life is good!
Thank you again for the kind words.
Time to rest and track this again tomorrow.
John, my "sniper" reference is strictly about bidding on E-bay. Many wins with my best leaving 2 seconds on the clock. Gunbroker's 15 minute rule precludes me from exercising the balance of keen timing and fast fingers on their auctions.
My inner Curious George will keep me up all night. ;D No hazing the simian jokes please.
* * * There were some days that I could of sworn I could hear the crickets chirping!! ;D
It sure has Brenden.
I have a new guess on what "it" is now! I have nothing to base my guess on but I have a gut feeling. If correct Its going to be out of my reach but I am going to enjoy seeing the pictures. 98 1st cousins
I don't think anyone knows, although you are probably on the right track.
A clever Forum Administrator might have dreamed up this "teaser" scam to drive up forum hits for advertising purposes! ;D
It seems to be working. ;D ;D
John
I'm not sure the rules for bidding qualifications on this auction are fair. I mean, how many people have been members here over 2 years, have over 1,000 post, weights between 240 & 245 and lives in a state that starts with the letter G. I'm glad I qualify but I hate it for some of you guys that don't make the cut. ;D
Wow, I can't believe you missed the first and most important qualification, you must be over age 60 to bid. ;D
John
Don't forget. They make bigger keyboards, now! ;D
Yep, they are working on yours now.... :o

I was thinking that the "qualifications" should include anyone that joined the site on May 23rd,2004.. ;)
That would narrow the field a bit.. ;D
They are trying to find the "enter bid" key...
I don't think that's it. Look at them. They are in disbelief! It's not there.
Guess you use it like the piano keyboard Tom Hanks used in BIG.
jump,jump, jump......

Brenden,
The bidding would then be between you and 9mil.mouse.

Now I think this more truer than ever!! :D
I was just looking at that; 8 guests and 13 users.
Sorry Tom, 300 won't make the cut. As stated earlyer, the first of several qualifications is, it takes 1,000 + post to be eligable for bidding on this auction. Sorry :-/
PS I'm full of crap, as many of us here are, and don't have any say so what so ever in this auction. Fun times ahead!
I've met a lot of teasers in my life but this is just plain and simple playing "hard-to-get." The best thing is no extra charge for all of this fun. It is becoming a bit anticlimactic, however.
Still working the phones... stand by. If it won't be tonight, I will let you know as soon as I know.
You guys are good sports. I hope its not anti-climatic. I think it will be worth the wait for one lucky bidder.
Anti-climatic,
Never did like that word!! ;)
Del Fatti? Did I hear the name Del Fatti? ....... :)
Well, now we know who some of the serious bidders are going to be; John, Corey, P7, and problably some silent ones...... ;D Maybe soon! :D

I don't mind being left out of "that" group.. ;) :o

You guys are getting closer, but not quite there.
I am told R-5000 will be for sale at some point, but not yet.
I already said -- no R-45 yet.
The photo thing is just disturbing. I am glad Karl doesn't know or care about the internet so he can't read this. :-X
The ones who are serious bidders make very little noise, and don't need to sell anything to achieve there goal. ;D
John
Testing, testing. Is this thing on? ;D
So far, not. Looks like it's going down. Now 5. Give it a little time. ;D [glb]Looks like that could be the #141[/glb]. ;)
Not 14 either.
It's one that I had ( :'() at one time. I got it from a forum friend and sold it to a forum friend and he sold it to another forum friend. It's nice to have friends!
See if this brings the count back up. ;)

Alright...propose a new direction...being I do not recall an area of this "saga" of a thread pertaining to "what" this item might be, I propose a "poll". Here are some options:
1. Its serial 5000
2. Its a very low serial from the brothers safe
3. Its a "special serial" number R9
4. Its the first R45 version...huh?...what?...
5. Its the pic of Karl in his thong
What say ye the board?
Sorry again guys, just to recap...
When I announced this a week ago last Friday, I didn't realize the factory was closed last week. My bad. Then, I had no idea how long it would take to finalize the details on this...
The auction item itself is ready to go. There have been administrative snags involving third parties--it's a long story. Obviously we want this all to be right when it goes live. I hope that happens tomorrow. If it does not, I hope to AT LEAST have permission to post photos and a description even if bidding cannot be opened.
It does appear that the bidding will be handled through an auction site and not on this forum. That was not my preference, but there are many issues in play.
Everything will, however, be announced and kicked off here on the forum, very soon.
Ahh, yes. The #143. Corey, you bought it from Brenden, you sold it to P7, then P7 sold it back to Brenden. Yep! That is one nice R9. :)
Sheesh,a guy can't do a thing around here without everyone knowing!! ;) :o
Sheesh,a guy can't do a thing around here without everyone knowing!! ;) :o
Its to bad "whoever" now wants it on a auction site. Now Joe Blow will end up with it and not even appreciate it for what it is. It will be bought as a investment and not as a treasure like it would have been on the forum. I guess big money trumps all this time. I know a forum member could still end up with it buts its not likley. Sad.
You guys are getting closer, but not quite there.
An early Rohrbaugh item, that was owned by an early, early fan, and the sale is going for a great cause??
OK...this is my last attempt and I'm going back to my life as a peasant....based upon what Brenden wrote: Is there a chance that a particuliar early serial was sold to an individual that may have "passed away" and the "charity" in question could be related to either the "cause of said passing" or this particuliar individual fought for a certian cause? Maybe this individual was a friend of the brothers?
Again...could be way off here but....eh
P7. That is now your official guess! ;D Right? ;)
A "Be-dazzled" pup... :-[
Being into "bling", Richard will probably be all over that one...
Wonder how the signal is up there at critter... ;D
