Winchester Ranger Talons...Anyone try ?
« on: June 14, 2010, 05:55:37 PM »
Hi Fellas,

Saw some of these down the range in 147 Grain... was thinking how nice would be to have them inside the R9.

Anyone have any experience with these rounds through the R9?

I have fired about 30 rounds of the 147gr with no problem.

I've put 150 rounds of the 147 gr through mine.  It is the best performing round I've tried in it.  When I tried, I could make head shots at 25 yds on a B-27 target.  Of course it was 100% reliable.  Additionally, it cost less than $20 for a box of 50.

As a result, it is what mine is loaded with.

I'd love to know where you shop.  I've seen them at $30 per 50 but not less than $20 box.

Nice to know there is another option.

I've bought from OMB before and am a happy shopper.  The prices can't be beat for sure.

Tks for the info fellas,

ended up getting some of these;
9mm Winchester Ranger Talon 147gr. SXT HP Ammo (RA9SXT)

Its a little confusing as previously mentioned in this thread, The # was RA9T - so, im hoping the ones i got will work with R9...

For those that responded favorably to this round and the R9, can you tell me if it was the RA9SXT or RA9T you have experienced...

Tks !

I used the RA9T.  The RA9SXT is the older generation bullets.  However, they should work fine.

http://www.sgammo.com/index.php/cPath/1_28  and  http://www.tds-us.com/catalog.php/tds/dt44310/Ranger_Talon_LEO both have fairly decent pricing on the older technology SXT ammo.

I bought a case of the RA45TP 230 gr 45 JHP +P T-series from OMB, good people to deal with and good prices, the 45s
were $26 / box, shipping included.
