The Precursor

What we have in the R and Rs is the end (at least for now) of a twenty to twenty-five year development.  A friend of mine put me onto the ASP and Devel.  This is pretty interesting history.  Yahoo or Google these names and see what you get.  R and Rs are light years ahead of what these guns were, but they too were light years ahead of what went on before.

You're right. I grew up reading about Devel from Dean Grennell's writings.

I sold a couple of ASPs when I managed a gun store in the late '80s. Even then they were obsolete, but it was because of them that S&W put out the 69 series, which led to Glock putting out the 19s, which led to Kahr, etc., etc.

Interesting comments.

Had my favorite ASP, several Glocks, a Kahr and an R9s out last week to familiarize a friend with whats available today and the feel of a mix of calibers and gun weights and sizes.

He had only fired a Ruger MK I previously, but was able to fire the mix ranging from 9MM to 45 at plates from 15 yards rather well.

They each have their place and the R9 is stellar in its.
