Title: Does the R9 have a safety?

In all I've read about the R9, I haven't seen a reference to a safety on these guns.  Is there one?  It's difficult to tell from looking at the photos.

There is not a manually operated safety.

No saftey.  Think of it like a Double-Action revolver.  When a round is chambered, the hammer returns to it's  "at rest" position.  This means the gun is not "cocked", not ready to fire unless you pull the trigger.  The long trigger pull moves back the hammer to a point where it will let go and fire the gun.    Some people are hesitant to carry a firearm that does not have saftey mechanisims,  but if you are careful and know the gun, it is completely safe.

As noted, the R9 is a DAO pistol. It has a long, smooth trigger pull of about 8 pounds. (In other words, you have to want to shoot it to shoot it -- and then you should shoot it like you mean it.) All of that, combined with a properly designed holster covering the trigger during carry, and (as previously observed) the "stuff" between the ears, constitute the safety.
