Life of Recoil Spring?
« on: February 15, 2009, 10:14:26 AM »
I have a new R9 that I have been shooting  with different ammunition to see what it likes best.  I now have 250 rounds through the pistol.  The recoil spring still looks almost new.  Should I replace it?  I have an extra one.  Didn't know if it should be replaced at 200 rounds or 500 rounds.  Any thoughts? Is there any harm to the pistol if I continue to use it?  Thanks for your thoughts.

I would put in the extra spring and then call Maria at Rohrbaugh and order a few more.  They are inexpensive and to me very cheap insurance to protect a valuable item.  I wouldn't go over 200 rounds with a recoil spring.

Mine was a 1/4" short after 80 rounds.  I replaced it.  felt a difference in the slide when cocking it.  Springs are cheap.  given the load, the springs are relatively small.  I'll be swapping every 100 rounds or so.
