Raging Judge. I like that. When  I showed it to Her Honor, she just smiled and said, "That would make quite a gavel."

Has anyone checked out the new Winchester PDX1 .410 ammo?  It has 3 defensive disks (that grab the rifling) and 12 pellets.  Looks like that would make for a great home defense ammo.

I'd be interested in a .410 that was made by almost anyone other than Taurus.  I have shot several of there revolvers owned by friends and handled several more though never their Judge.  I didn't like any of them.  Fit, Finish and Function were all trash.   IMO

I'm interested in handling one of the new polymer judges w/ the wood grips; their "sub-compact" version similar to the Public Defender version...

I wouldn't mind carrying one of those...
Is that a 9mm in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

I have shot the Winchester PDX-1 .410 extensively, including several rounds into ballistic gelatin, with and without clothing or other barriers.

I am VERY impressed with this load and carry it in my Judge Public Defender.

The separation of the defense disks is nearly ideal at 15-25 feet.  They penetrate 10-12 inches in clothed ballistic gelatin and penetrate like a wadcutter.  The pellets penetrate about 6 inches or so and pattern nicely.

I actually spoke extensively with the guy who designed this round at Winchester.  A lot of R&D went into this load.  They are also working on a 3" .410 shell with even more defense disks!

I recommend it highly.

I shot some of the 3" stuff that was factory testing samples, up at the Winchester plant in Alton, IL.  I think the 3" can hold up to 5 defense discs.  They are trying to decide how hot the new loads should be, whether they should use any shot in addition to the discs, etc.

VERY impressive is the 12 ga. PDX-1 with a one ounce slug and three OO Buck pellets!

I have some of the Winchester .410 PDX1 shotshells on backorder from Midway. $12.79 per box of 10 with projected ETA of 6/4/10. I liked the cartridge (as much as you can without shooting it) when I first read about it, and Duane's posts reinforced my opinion. Hope they stay on schedule.  Gene

I shoot the Judge Magnum with Winchester .410 with the 5 buckshot in 3".  Does very well.  Will be trying the PDX-1, 3" when it comes out.    :)

kj,
No Judge here yet, but but I picked up a Ruger Alaskan 454 today, put five rounds of Winchester 454 250gr. LRN Cowboy Action loads and 2 rounds of Hornady 225gr. FTX LEVERrevolution . I need to find some more 454 ammo.

John.  Been buying .454's from Cabela's in bulk, 300 gr. JHP.  Haven't bought any in over a year, though, and still have plenty left.

Congrats on getting the Alaskan.  Great gun.

Found Winchester 2 1/2 inch PDX 1 .410 shotshells at R&R arms. $10.80 per ten rd box. There were 161 boxes left after I placed my order. I swear, this guy must have a brother-in-law at the Winchester plant. :) Anyway just a heads up.   Gene

On the timing -- no not really.  At that point, they still hadn't finalized the loading, so...  I would guess it will be a little while yet, but its definitely coming.
