This is posted over at Shotgun world by a user named diyguy. It is worth a read and based on this I have switched to Frog Lube for all gun care needs and WD40 Corrosion specialist for other household corrosion prevention.

 Although it wasn't rated very high on this evaluation I have had good results from Corrosion X in rust prevention and light rust removal.

I still love EEZOX.  I don't hunt with my pistols, so odor is no issue.  I don't soak my weapons in salt water (or in any water without prompt takedown and cleaning).  I have carried the R9 for over 6 months without an interval cleaning and it still functioned perfectly and without friction when taken to the range for a workout.

There are so many good products on the market now compared to years past; all one has to do is pick one of these and use it.
