1st range report r9 2tone  born 11/2011
« on: March 26, 2011, 03:04:56 PM »
target: NRA official 25-yrd timed&rapid fire pistol   ammo: speer gold dot 115gr  Distance:4yrds  shots fired: 12    weaver stance and double tap with 1 second between shots and 5 sec. between aim.  All shots hit within black 5.5 inch circle.  5shots in #9 ring  7shots in#10 ring    no direct hit on X.   Very happy with choice of ammo  (cabelas has them for $19.99 box of 20,till3-29-11 ) thanks to all for ammo insight  8)     Firing the pup was fun, but 12 rounds at the range is what it needs to break it in and seat itself and thats all i'll shoot threw it at a range session. Remember: shoot less carry often!! ;D   Recoil was more of a push and she tried to jump out of my grip,so the 5 sec. between taps was to regrip.  just got done giving the pup a bath and she is resting after her first trip to the range.  Ps. shot my S&W M&P 9 Pro  68 rounds to eat up the rest of the range time.

Thanks for the range report. To help with the recoil our very own yankee2500 sells a grip extension in the classified ads that works extremely well! :D

thanks wolverine_450 just got back from the post office and ordered 1 take down tool , 2 black hooks , set of black flat grip screws. Think  I need the hooks for extra leverage/control and faster follow up shots :)

It come down to personal preference on the extensions.

I prefer the straight extension. Yankee2500 said he sells more hooked.

I purchased both and the straight felt better to me. Just my opinion. You may want to try one straight. If you don't like it you can always sell it. They extensions do work wonders.

it was my theory that without hooked extention i had my full middle fingure and only 3/4 of ring fingure holding the frame. Hopefully , at least the curle would go the rest of the distance to the full ring fingure and as the pup would kick up and back, the ring fingure would help controll the upward movement as opposed to the straight extension, but like you said wolverine_450 it's a matter of preferance. It's like trying on a pair of shoes, same size and same make but all feels  abit different.  Fat middle fingure needs compensation for thinner ring fingure = hooked extension     Hopefully :D

It all depends on the size of your hands, and your grip.

It's hard to explain in words. You really need to try both for yourself.

I selected the straight in the first five minutes. I new it was the one for me.

Good luck in your search. Go have some fun with it! ;D

what kind of length does the straight and hooked mag. ext. give to the bottom of the frame/mag. need 3/8 in. to bottom of ring fingure.

The straight extension adds about 9/16" to the grip.
