Suppressor?
« on: May 28, 2009, 03:04:59 PM »
Long time owner (since late 2004). I thought I had registered on this site before but I can't find my old login.

Anyways to my question and I'm surprised no one has asked it before, perhaps the answer is too obvious?

Can a suppressor be put on a R9? More importantly, would it cycle properly? I have a feeling it wouldn't and want to ask before I go through the trouble of trying to get a threaded barrel made.

Also, before anyone states it, I know it wouldn't be practical and might look a little funny in my pocket but I don't care.

Welcome back!

Can't help you much other than to say I just would use a pillow?

Cheeper, don't need a federal stamp, threaded barrel, or new holster and you could strap in to your back when carrying?  ;D

too bad feathers cause a r9 to misfeed faster than my 147 gr target rounds...

Son of a gun, didn't think of that but I know your right!

How about a synthetic pillow?

I think (that gets me in trouble) that the barrel would have to be custom made.  I'm with you on the coolness factor!  If it happens please post pics, it would be a first.

IMO -- Suppressor for R9 = (1) lots of re-engineering; (2) lots of paperwork; and (3) assuming completion of number (1) but failure to complete number (2), lots of new "acquaintances."   ;)

the paperwork part is not an issue.
what do you mean by re-engineering? more than getting a threaded barrel made? it works fine on full size pistol so is this a physics issue due to thhe size of all pocket guns or just the r9?
note I have searched and found no info (good or bad) about suppressors and pocket guns including the keltecs which is suprising to me.

While your at it why not ask about a scope or C more sight install?
Let's really trick it out!

Hey, I met Q at a BMW auto show in Las Vegas.  He was a guest speaker, very funny guy really.  May he rest in peace.

One of the James Bond girls was there also, can't remember her name but remember what she looked like!

Yes he would approve.

ucfjoe:

First of all, I forgot to welcome you back. My apologies.

As for that re-engineering part, I'm just a lowly lawyer (one of the good kind who believes in the Second Amendment), so I'll have to leave that question to the engineers and physicists among us. It's just that after watching Corey work so hard to solve the mysteries of porting dynamics for the R9, I have about reached the conclusion that this little pocket rocket is so finely tuned it doesn't take much in the way of modification to throw it out of "kilter."

thanks Richard

I was doubtful that it would work and was hoping that someone could tell me it would work. I guess i'll try first on my p-11 and if that is successful than maybe i'll venture back to trying it on the r9.
