The New Dan Wesson Valor in .45

One of my cousins had a Les Baer .45, bought it new, sold it almost immediately.  It was so “tight” that he had trouble racking the slide.  I bought my oldest boy a Wilson Combat CQB for his 40th, a superb pistol.  My Ed Brown Special Forces is pretty impressive as well.  I’ve never shot a Dan Wesson.

That is the way that Baer fits his 1911's and that is why he guarantees them to shoot 3" groups at 50 yards or better.  Most will shoot 2" to 2 1/2" and for an extra $150 you get one that shoots 1 1/2" at 50 yards.

He builds and fits guns like they did in the 30's, all by hand.  He shoots 50 rounds through a completed gun and tears it down to look for any unusual wear.  He then puts another 100 to 200 rounds through it and ships it.  He recommends putting 500 rounds through it before cleaning or you will have trouble getting it back together.

His front strap is even checkered by hand.  I've never had trouble racking the slide, even the 10mm with a 22# spring.

Does anyone here own a Nighthawk Custom or have an opinion on their 1911s?
