Early R9s for Sale
« on: January 10, 2013, 09:46:23 PM »
Less than a 100 rounds have been run thru this gun. The gun has not been fired following a trip to the factory for adjustments and a spring replacement. Came back from the factory with new padding in the case. Asking $1800. Please send PM if you would like more information.

Why are you calling this an early R9s ? Does it have a low serial number? Carbon Fiber Grips? Etc..... Cannot really tell from the pic. What about it pushes the price so high?

Very true,........it's the only "special feature"
I can spot.  Seller's choice as to listing price.

Hopefully the poster, and new member, returns soon with some additional details as far as serial number range, manufacturing location, etc.

He stated it has been returned to the factory, hopefully its not a "deerdale"... hard to tell a whole lot from the picture.

Maybe the return trip to the factory is considered a "special feature."

It also appears to be an R9 not an R9s as indicated in the thread title. Hard to tell from the picture though.

EDIT: The seller has confirmed that that gun does have sights and is marked "R9s"

Excellent point, Ryan; there are a few who don't grasp the distinction between the two.

It is an R9s and has sights. It has the R9s on the receiver. It has blue fiber grips. The serial number is under 200. Seams to me you guys like holding down the value of your own firearms, by not assisting in others getting top dollar out of theirs!

Did you check to see what other similar firearms were selling for on other (auction) sites besides this forum, prior to joining to list your gun for sale?  I feel that "we" in no way hold down the value of our firearms, but that unfortunately the market determines what people are willing to pay.   Of course you are welcome to ask whatever you want for your firearm.  Keep in mind too that most of here have at least one of these guns, so it can make sales here a little more challenging.

It sounds like you have a nice piece or Rohrbaugh history with a low serial number gun and I genuinely wish you all the best with your sale.

Five or six VERY good pictures would greatly help with the sale.
I do not believe anyone is trying to de-value your or anyone's
Rohrbaugh.  There are just a lot of details missing from your
listing, & the one & only pic is small and very poor in resolution.

May be VERY interested,.....but need better pics!

Andy:

First of all, welcome to the Forum.

Second, no one around here is trying to hold down the value of any R9. As noted above, a few good photographs would go a long way in facilitating your sale. Offering an early R9 or R9s for sale on this Forum could be compared to offering an F40 for sale at a meeting of the Ferrari Club of America -- the members know a lot about the subject and will have a lot of questions. One example, as noted by Tracker, is the difference between the "R9" and "R9s" engraving. The "s" engraving was originally intended to designate that the pistol had sights milled into the slide but was dropped to avoid regulatory confusion. That occurred around the time the Rohrbaugh factory moved from Farmingdale to Deer Park. A few pistols with slides bearing the "R9s" and "Farmingdale" engravings were sent in for service after the factory's move and received new slides engraved "R9" and "Deer Park." These are the so-called "Deerdales." There aren't many "Deerdales" out there and that rarity alone makes them attractive to some collectors. However, since the R9s are not issued in strict serial-number order, the only way to identify a "Deerdale" is to know its history.

Third, good luck on your sale. The blue carbon fiber grips alone have gone for $300+ around here.
