magazine grip extension?
« on: April 26, 2006, 04:15:45 PM »
Is there a finger grip exension made for the rohbaugh?

This would help for control and comfort when this option is used for practice or carrying in a regular holster.

Thanks for any input.

I'm not sure about the mag extension.

Many here put some abrasive tape on the grips to keep the pistol from squirming.  It makes a significant improvement, I think.

I was thinking about the Pearce or Schever finger extensions that exist for the "baby" Glocks.

I seem to remember that a forum member here modified one of the Kahr magazines, and it worked OK.

Having the magazine catch at the bottom limits the clip length which thus limits special attachments to the clip and/or having a higher capacity clip.  Would Rohbaugh ever consider changing the mag release to a more traditional American thumb release to alllow for this improvement?

Bill yes, someone did that mod' but danged if I recall who!  ::)

Arizona - much as a button release would be nice I fear with the current design it would not IMO be feasable.  Everything was done to keep the gun design free of snagging projections thus, no slide lock lever, or side mag release - plus the latter needs enough space on frame ahead of grips to contain the catch mechanism.

I do think that the heel release is fine, as long as some practice time put in ...... I did some pics a while back re mag insertion/release - if you wish I'll post them again - one pic I recall shows my method of engagement of heel release.

It used to be on the forum somewhere -- probably could search for it, I think it involved a pierce grip extension for a Kahr

Hi Tom,

Sorry, I am too far away from that area to be familiar with dealers.

Perhaps someone else will help.

Holy Cow!!

You guys are incredible to remember.

The information is great.  It would be nice to use how to tactically remove the used clip and insertion of the new one.

Arizona,

I think you can look in the R9 user guide and determine how to remove the magazine base, which would be a requirement for mag cleaning.

Then you could install the Pierce extension, which replaces the old base.

I have installed on a Glock, and it was pretty easy.

You are very welcome.  Glad to be of help.

I'm pretty worthless when it comes to fixing things, so it was particularly satisfying to see your kind remarks.   :D

Tom, are you still looking for a dealer in Mich? Very pleased with Perf Firearms in Brighton, but closer to Sterling Heights is Michigun, I've dealt with them as well.
